Everyone is right - San Diego and North San Diego county are the greatest. Others have hit the highlights, so I will give you the low lights.

Haven't been in a couple of years so hope it is still open - Dick's Last Resort in Gaslamp I think. Go for lunch not dinner. Rude waitresses.

La Jolla is a must. Great restaurants there for dinners. Bully's in Del Mar is fun. And if you motor up to Encinitas, I think it is actually in Leucadia, you will find a great Mexican hole in the wall called Juanita's.

Vinnie and all:

Sheraton Suites downtown was nice. You should be able to get it for $100 or less on priceline.

Weather is unbelievable. 75 during the day and 65 at night.

Petco is a great park with good seating. Saw two games, not impressed with the team, but nice stadium.

Saw Dana Carvey at Humphreys by the Bay. Absolutely hilarious and a great venue. I saw Seinfeld two months ago and enjoyed myself more at Carvey. Really surprised me.

Ate at a couple of good places, one was Fiddlers Green in La Jolla. There are many, MANY good places to eat in the Gaslamp district, which is close to downtown.

Dick's seemed to be a gimmick tourist trap, so we avoided. Ate a a great Irish pub near the stadium, but the name escapes me at the moment.

Take the ferry to Coronado. Great place and good way to spend the afternoon.
