The Heartland
Went to St. Lucia for my honeymoon. Stayed 2-3 nights at the Jalousie at the south end of the island and 2-3 nights at the all-inclusive Rendezvous on the north end of the island. If ever traveling to St. Lucia I would highly recommend splitting up your trip between the two sides of the island. The South side is more tropical and is where the Pitons are located. The Jalousie are individual hut/condos with their own plunge pool and is located right in between the two pitons. It is very secluded and relaxing. Tropical parks are located on this side of the island. The north side is more arid and flat. There is definitely not as much scenery and this is where the Sandals resorts and other all-inclusive resorts are located. I enjoyed the Rendezvous, every night they would have a themed buffet which was just o.k., but they also have a fine dining restaurant that had exceptional food. If I remember right the Rendezvous was much cheaper than the Sandals resorts. It was an adults only resort and they didn't bother us to take part in any games. We had a blast on the trip, but St. Lucia is definitely not for the avid snorkeler due to it being a volcanic island. I think the diving is pretty decent though.

thanks for ther recommendation about going to El Dorado Royale, will check that out for sure. Haven't decided on any place in particluar, but that sounds like a good option maybe

We have been to the Riveria Maya for the past 6-7 years (Playacar) and love the all-incusive. GL on what you choose!!

Shawn: I got married at the Sandals in the Bahamas (Royal Bahamian). We really liked the resort, but a few things got screwed up. We made some complaints and they gave us an incredible deal we couldn't pass up on. We went to the Sandals Montego Bay in Jamaica and it was incredible. We loved it so much we signed up for another week this coming December. Sandals Montego Bay is the nicest place I've ever been to, and I highly recommend it.

For what it's worth, I really liked Bahia Principe on Mexico's Riveria Maya, but I think Jamaica was better.

The beaches are incredible in Montego Bay. I loved Doctors Cave. Drinks galore, eye candy everywhere, full of tourists. An oasis of paradise.

Sandals - Bahamas

My wife and went there a couple years back and both felt it was just ok. We are drink till your drop people, we are more food people and felt the food was average. I agree about the rooms and the decor etc..older. (we kind of felt it was like the TRUMAN SHOW) like all the food for all of the restaurants came from one kitchen, which connected you to 4-5 areas. We said if we ever go back it would be for Atlantis.

In regards to a honeymoon, the GRAND WAILIEA (sp) in Maui ( Hawaii) was awesome, spent a fortune there, but restaurants and everything were first class. Check it out.

got married in may at sandals montego bay. overall, i would reccomend it. a few things got messed up though. they are supposed to make you a dinner reservation at one of the restaurants on your wedding night. we showed up for dinner, and no reservation. said they didnt have a spot available for us, so we would have to go to one of the other restaurants. well, i wasnt ok with that and bitched every employee and manager out, and then we sat down at that restaurant and had dinner. also, sandals messed up our departure times and we missed our flight, and had to sit at the airport in jamaica for 5 hours wondering if we'd get back to united states. sandals manager came to airport and paid cash for two tickets for my wife and i, also paid for hotel saty in atlanta and rental car to drive home to mississippi. they were going to pay for plane tickets from atl to jackson, but they costs like $750 each, so my wife and i decided not to fly and we told sandals we'd rent a car and drive the 6 hours instead of screwing sandals. all in all, giving us the incorrect departure time cost sandals around $1200, but they paid for everything. overall experience with sandals was good though. great food, good night entertainment, nice beaches, plenty of daquiris, beautiful wedding, and great wedding pictures. we will probably go back for our first anniversary.

Marc: If you read one of my posts above, you'll see that I mentioned that they screwed a few things up when we got married at the Sandals Royal Bahamian. The dinner reservation is one of those things!!! We were SO PISSED. We sat there when the wedding coordinator called it in, then get to the restaurant and they look at us like we're nuts. We did get to eat there, but we didn't get the service they told us we'd get for being newlyweds. We also had a near miss with our wedding garments and their dry cleaning service. Our stuff came up missing....luckily they found everything but the bag my wife wanted to keep for her dress. The other two things that happened: We almost missed the drive to downtown Nassau to register as a resident (required to be married) because they didn't leave us the welcome package and we also had someone send us a box of chocolate covered strawberries that we never saw.

So, yes, these people can dick things up like it is nobody's business. HOWEVER, when we wrote to the General Manager to tell them about our disappointments, he gave us 3 free nights at any Sandals resort. We ended up getting a 6 night stay in Montego Bay for $581....and then they upgraded our room to one that was right on the ocean. Lots of hassles the first time through, but we are really happy it all worked out and are now set to go back this December on one of their 1/2 off deals for Sandals Select Members (returnees).

haven't decided yet, was waiting to figure out when we were getting married, so we have that set now, so I can start to look for travel plans.

Already have my paperwork for a passport filled out, just need to go to the post office to for the next part.

Will be looking into the Montego Bay one the GMROZ mentioned, and maybe the one in Mexico

I got engaged this past new years eve, with a wedding date on july 31 2010, booked the venue and church. I have been doing a lot of research into the honeymoon aspect.

The ultimate place for a honeymoon IMHO is the Maldives. www.kuredu.com
PARADISE! I have to decide between 10 days in the Maldives/ 4 days in paris, 14 in fiji, or 7 days in italy and 7 days in greece. The fiance wants italy and greece, I want fiji.

I have heard many good things about El dorado in the maya, very nice resort! So is the RIU in aruba.

slowly making it onto my list is thailand

the above resort from what I have read on tripadvisor.com is magical and it won best resort in 2008
