I don't play any ML favorites usually and play across the board on bigger prices that I can make a case for.
Race 1...#2 Celtic Chant....12-1 ML
Inside post and has tactical speed. Best speeds come at this distance and he is right on par with his speed figs at this distance with the rest of the field pretty much. Should lay right off the pace and have the ability to hit the board at least. Trainer has great stats and because he isn't a "big name", tends to get overlooked. If this were a Pletcher horse, he'd be less than 5-1.
Race 2...#6 Bebes Passion....15-1 ML
Gotta dig deep to make a case for this one but it can be done. Lot of 1st timers in this field, and the few who have raced, haven't shown much. If the #1 horse didn't have the rail, I would fancy him but the rail has some terrible stats in these 5.5 furlong sprints on turf. Back to my pick, 1st time lasix and a drop in class and slight cut back in distance. Good quick work over Belmont track last week so should be ready to roll today I think.
Race 3...#5 Darnley Bay....10-1 ML
Like this one the most so far. 3rd off layoff, drop in class, drop from a sprint after routes the last 2 out, and I like the pedigree. Obviously Mineshaft is a sire to like, but the Dam is a stakes winner with 7 winners from 8 starters and a 60% 2 year old win rate. No way I want to play the 1 at odds of 1/1, and the other horse I could make a serious case for is the #7 but he is unraced.
Would be very surprised to see the #5 and #7 finish off the board in this race.
Race 7...#6 Zajal....10-1 ML
Good pedigree, good trainer, and has proven over turf. Lost to weaker field last out but now jumps up a few classes after a nice speed fig. Prado on board again and think he waits a little longer before he gives his final go as he was caught after leading last time.
Race 9....
The Grade 2 feature sprint....loads and loads of pace in this one....I'd go with the 1 or 2 to hit the board, and IMO, win. These 2 should love the blistering fractions that should be put up and be able to come home fast.
Both are 6-1 morning line and shouldn't get much play as the #3 is the off pace horse to beat it seems. Still like the chances of the 1 and 2 myself though.
I think a good betting race and if you key'd the 123 over the others for a $1 tri, would cost you $126 but might see a very nice return.
