SARS.....huge over reaction

I live just outside of Toronto.........just wanted to pass along a quick piece of info with regards to SARS


HUGE OVEREACTION


Toronto is fine...........we've had 16 deaths........there's 5 million people in the Toronto area.......do you know that in Toronto you are 9 times more likely to die from THE FLU then SARS

and by the way....no cure for the FLU to ya know


Toronto is losing millions upon millions of dollars....why...because of nothing.........also heard today that in Toronto alone it looks like 5000 jobs will be lost because of all of this (estimate)......



anyway.........all you Americans with all your cash....come to T.O. you'll be fine......the stuff your hearing is way overblown.......

well the W.H.O is getting ripped to pieces in the Canadian media.. I mean they didn't even have a rep show up here....what the heck is that.......:shrug:


things have been way overblown.........and to think thousands of people are going to lose their jobs because of this......something is not right........:shrug:

the W.H.O should know how to read facts.......I mean this SARS thing isn't even statistically relevant........


It's like the whole Shark attack thing in Florida.......remember that...Sharks are attacking........panic.......fear.......oh yeah....2 people died........oh no

but ya know what they say...........when ya have panic and fear..the facts seem to get lost

Cry about it if you must, but I believe I will stay right down here until yall get that little bug taken care of if you don't mind! I know that there have been some people that have not wanted americans in Canada recently............hmmmmmmmm I believe that it was the Canadians...........hmmmmmmm..........and now they need our revenue..............hmmmmmmmm...............come on up here and catch yourself a mess of SARS, it is just as mild as the flu.............hmmmmmmmm............Maybe you could get some French tourists to visit?

and yes good thing you can read.....and as for the FLU it's really quite a concept.....it's called a fact........look it up

dude do you have any clue about how endemics/pandemics start???

the only thing good about SARS is that it is beatable...somehow

we dont know how it spreads, dont have anything to defeat it -- all we know is it is highly transmissable

best thing to do is to limit spread as long as we can...this thing could get ugly real fast...if you dont think it can, you have no knowledge about history of disease....

with the world haven gotten so small, past pandemics could easily be nothing compared to future ones

as for your sarcastic remark...do a little reading if you want to on the last couple of flu outbreaks....see how they impacted the world before we had a vaccine....

then spout off about how your ideas are better than the WHO....obviously Canada has $$ impact....but last i checked, whne the US had a situation which $$ was a concern, Canada spat in our face....

while i agree maybe a little overreaction has occurred, this is a VERY serious threat and the WHO has every right to advise against travel right now....

and if you want to know what really causes problems......it's widespread panic for no good reason..........and oh by the way....almost all the people who've died have been SICK ALREADY.....for fu**s sake half have been over 70.......


just wish people knew the dam facts..........just ask the 5 million in Toronto area....most think nothing of it........
