goalie info

Sebastien Caron, Pittsburgh Penguins - Coach Rick Kehoe has not named his starting goalie for Saturday's game against the Panthers, but he told the media that he would have no problem giving rookie Caron starts on back-to-back nights, says the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Due to his recent strong play, we think Caron will get the start and so we'll list him as the probable starter.

Patrick Lalime, Ottawa Senators - Lalime will be the starter for Saturday's game against the Capitals.

Nikolai Khabibulin, Tampa Bay Lightning - Khabibulin will be the starter for Saturday's game against the Flyers, reports the Tampa Tribune.

Sebastien Charpentier, Washington Capitals - Charpentier will be the starter for Saturday's game against the Senators, reports the Washington Post.

Zac Bierk, Phoenix Coyotes - Bierk will be the starter for Saturday's game against the Sabres, reports the Arizona Republic.

Michael Leighton, Chicago Blackhawks - Leighton is the probable starter for Saturday's game against the Blues, reports the Chicago Sun-Times.

Trevor Kidd, Toronto Maple Leafs - Kidd is the probable starter for Saturday's game against the Canadiens. Ed Belfour is experiencing back pain and is doubtful for this game.

Marc Denis, Columbus Blue Jackets - Denis is the probable starter for Saturday's game against the Bruins.

Marty Turco, Dallas Stars - Turco is the probable starter for Saturday's game against the Sharks.

Evgeni Nabokov, San Jose Sharks - Nabokov is the probable starter for Saturday's game against the Stars.

Dwayne Roloson, Minnesota Wild - Roloson is the probable starter for Saturday's game against the Ducks.

Jose Theodore, Montreal Canadiens - Theodore is the probable starter for Saturday's game against the Maple Leafs.

Tomas Vokoun, Nashville Predators - Vokoun is the probable starter for Saturday's game against the Oilers.

Martin Brodeur, New Jersey Devils - Brodeur is the probable starter for Saturday's game against the Hurricanes.

Brent Johnson, St. Louis Blues - Johnson is the probable starter for Saturday's game against the Blackhawks.

Roman Turek, Calgary Flames - Turek is the probable starter for Saturday's game against the Kings.

Jean-Sebastien Giguere, Anaheim Mighty Ducks - Giguere is the probable starter for Saturday's game against the Wild.

Martin Biron, Buffalo Sabres - Biron is the probable starter for Saturday's game against the Coyotes. Rookie Ryan Miller started his second consecutive game on Thursday because he posted a shutout the game before, but coach Lindy Ruff seems intent on giving Biron his fair share of starts if he continues to play reasonably well.

Steve Shields, Boston Bruins - Shields is the probable starter for Saturday's game against the Blue Jackets, but as is always the case with the Bruins goalies, only coach Robbie Ftorek knows for sure.

Brian Boucher, Phoenix Coyotes - Boucher, who had been suffering from a deep bone bruise to his knee, was activated off the injured reserve list on Friday and will dress as the backup for tonight's game against the Sabres. As a result, Jean-Marc Pelletier was re-assigned to the AHL.

player info

Alexei Zhamnov, Chicago Blackhawks - Zhamnov did not play on Friday against the Canucks due to a left hand injury. He is consequently listed as day-to-day but his status for tonight's game is questionable.

Brad Richards, Tampa Bay Lightning - Richards missed Friday's contest against the Penguins as he travelled to Prince Edward Island to be with his sick grandmother.

Dan Boyle, Tampa Bay Lightning - Boyle returned to the lineup on Friday, after missing four games with a dislocated index finger. His finger was heavily taped and Boyle was pretty ineffective for much of the game.

Alexander Mogilny, Toronto Maple Leafs - In case anyone missed it yesterday, Mogilny will not play in Saturday's game against the Canadiens due to a bruised foot. He is actually did not even make the trip to Montreal.

Owen Nolan, San Jose Sharks - Nolan, battling a groin injury, did not practice on Friday but it was merely a precautionary measure as to minimize the chance of a setback. He is expected to play on Saturday against the Stars.

Brad Stuart, San Jose Sharks - Stuart might skate on his sore surgically repaired ankle today but is still not close to returning.

Kimmo Timonen, Nashville Predators - Timonen, who has missed the past five games due to a blood clot in his leg, rode a stationary bike on Friday and is expected back in the lineup next week.

Scott Walker, Nashville Predators - No word yet on the results of MRI tests on Walker's knee as he was still being evaluated in Nashville on Friday, but the team is hoping that his injury is no worse than a sprain. Either way, he will miss a couple of games at least.

Mario Lemieux, Pittsburgh Penguins - Lemieux is expected to miss another game on Saturday when the Pens play the Panthers. His groin injury is still not fully recovered to the point where he can play.

Patrick Elias, New Jersey Devils - Elias did not play in Friday's game against the Hurricanes due to back spasms. His status for Saturday's return match is unknown.

Oleg Tverdovsky, New Jersey Devils - Tverdovsky did not play in Friday's game against the Hurricanes due to feeling ill. It is possible that he may have the flu but of greater concern is that he missed a handful of games earlier this month with an unknown viral infection.

Maxim Afinogenov, Buffalo Sabres - Afinogenov practiced for the first time with his teammates on Wednesday and is tenatively targetting a return to the lineup on January 24. He should be cleared for contact practice on Tuesday and would need a couple days to get into game shape.
