Upsets in the Making?
By Marc Lichtenfeld
July 11, 2003; The big fights on Saturday between Vernon Forrest and Ricardo Mayorga and Zab Judah and DeMarcus Corley have a South Florida theme to them. Both Mayorga and Judah trained in the area. Mayorga was at Don King's camp in Ft. Pierce, while Judah spent time in West Palm Beach. According to well placed sources, Mayorga was all business while in camp. Despite the image of the boozing, smoking, wildman, Mayorga apparently was very disciplined when it came to training. Those who watched him and sparred with him are predicting an upset win over Vernon Forrest. """Conversely, the same can not be said for Zab Judah. BoxingTalk's spies in West Palm Beach were not impressed with Judah's performance in the gym and think Zab could obtain his second professional loss on Saturday."""""" The same sources also tell us that light heavyeight contender Richard Hall is primed for his July 18th ESPN2 fight against Julian "Mr. KO" Letterlough. Hall has been routinely sparring with 250 pound heavyweights and assuming he survives his training, he could give "Mr. KO" all he can handle.
note the mention that "spies" thought judah didn`t look good in training..........
i don`t care.....i just don`t think corley is in the same class with the judah`s,the tszyu`s,or even the sharmba mitchell`s......wins against overrated(imo) guys like randall bailey and ener julio don`t cut it for me.....
corley`s gonna have to get lucky and catch judah.....imo,judah is quicker AND stronger....the only thing that worries me is the layoff...
