Still getting no respect from the books.
Pelfrey is the better pitcher with better numbers and a much better ERA and he is +180.
Hughes only loss this season = METS.
Could you imagine the Mets winning today and keeping the 8 game win streak alive ?
No way the Yankees are -190 NO WAY they lose 4 in a row.

I don't disagree that the Yanks shouldn't be such a big fave, but I don't think there's any way Pelfrey is a better pitch than Hughes. He's somehow managed to pitch pretty well this year, but leading up to this year he's been an average to slightly below average pitcher. And I don't think there's any doubt that Hughes has a much bigger upside. If you look at their career numbers Hughes has him beat pretty easily, IMO.

Hughes

WHIP - 1.24
BAA - .237
K/BB - 2.6/1
ERA - 3.90

Pelfrey

WHIP - 1.45
BAA - .279
K/BB - 1.5/1
ERA - 4.25

Just my opinion. The Mets may very well win today, but I'd be careful about putting too much stock in Pelfrey. He's due for a correction at some point.

So after I go to great lengths to defend Hughes, he goes out and craps the bed today. :mj07: Jose Reyes with 2 HRs in his first two at-bats. :scared

Still a long way to go, but this looks like a game where Hughes will give up 6 or 7 before they take him out.

Still a long way to go. Hughes looks like shit too, so I doubt the Mets are done scoring. And like I said above, I would be careful with Pelfrey. He's overachieved big time this year. His numbers so far this year are making him look better than he really is.

Oh yeah, I don't blame you one bit. Even if it loses, it wasn't a bad bet at all. There was definitely value with the Mets today.
