GREW UP IN VAILSBURG ESSEX CTY AND MOVED TO CRANBURY WHEN I GOT MARRIED 27 YRS AGO.MY BROTHER LIVED IN UNION OFF MO AVE AND NOT TO FAR FROM GOOD OLE LIBERTY TAVERN.WHERE ARE U AT?

I'm in Scotch Plains now but work about a mile and a half from the Liberty Tavern. I always pass that place on my way to catch route 78 but never stopped in. Looks like a house with a basement bar on a side street. How is it there? Mostly a locals spot? I hang at Scotty's for drinks after work, few TV's and reasonably priced drinks with appetizers to boot.

NICE !!!LIBERTY WAS AN OLDMANS BAR,NICE JUST TO HANG OUT,FEW BEERS FEW TVS,QUICK FUNNY STORY ,BACK IN HS WE WENT TO THAT PLACE TO GET BEERS BECAUSE IT WAS OFF BEATEN PATH FOR UNDERAGERS,SO FRI NIGHT I WALK IN ITS ABOUT 1045 PM AND MY HS COACHES R IN THERE DRINKING,U SEE FRI NIGHTS WE HAD 10 CURFEW SO OLD BRIGHT ME RECIEVES THE CALL AND PROCEEDS TO HEAD BACK TO PARTY IN MAPLEWOOD WITH BEER AND GET CAUGHT.MY LINEBACKER COACH WAS LAUGHING BUT THE HEAD COACH WAS NOT HAPPY,BENCHED THE NEXT DAY AND AT MON PRAC COACHING STAFF WAS CALLING ME SIX PACK AND RAN ALL PRAC!!!:toast::mj07::toast: THE GOOD OLD DAYS.ROOM MATE AT GLAASBORO WAS FROM SCOTCH PLAINS. ABRUZZO WAS THE LAST NAME.ALSO PLAYED AGAINST 2 BROTHERS IN BASEBALL I THINK THEIR LASTNAME WAS COUNTRYMAN

Well Vailsburg has certainly changed from when you were up here. Do the owners of the Liberty live upstairs? I'll have to pop in there to check it out one day. If you are back up in the old neighborhood some time drop me a note and I'll meet you there for a few beers. I often get Seton Hall tickets from a co worker so if you are interested in going to a game let me know, I usually get them the day before and have a hard time finding someone to go. Good luck today! THEY USED TOO LIVE UPSTAIRS BUT THEY WERE AN OLD COUPLE BACK THEN,SO EITHER THEY ARE IN THER 80S OR MAYBE STILL IN FAMILY? THAT ALL SOUNDS GREAT !! USED TO TAKE 1 OF MY KIDS TO SH GAMES ALL THE TIME.MY BROTHER IN LAW IS THE HEAD OF SH POST OFFICE.IF IM AT THAT WAY I WILL GET IN TOUCH WITH U!!! GL :0008:toast:
