kansas-3
Now neither team has truly gotten its act together this year. The Cats have been inconsistent and seem top be just waltzing in a daze waiting for 6-10 post man Randolph Morris to finally become eligible (he will miss his 14th and final game today before becoming eligible for Tuesday's contest versus Vanderbilt). Now, Wildcat point guard Rajon Rondo will be the most talented player on the court, but he can't do it all by himself and Joe Crawford, well, you just don't ever know what you're going to get with him.
Kentucky was out-rebounded by nine in this week's two point, last second win over visiting Central Florida. Two point win over Central Florida in Lexington? Come on! Tubby Smith's club has struggled with its shooting as its field goal percentage has dropped in four straight games (47.9 to 47.6 to 42.9 to 40.7 percent)
Kansas needs this victory more than the Cats. The Jayhawks have a nice win over California, but they've failed in other non-conference tilts versus Arizona, Arkansas, Nevada and Saint Joe's. With an RPI of only 139, the Jayhawks need a juicy non-conference win to bolster their Big Dance seeding come March. Bill Self's club is young (the top eight scorers are either freshmen or sophomores), but certainly very talented. Freshmen Brandon Rush and Mario Chalmers can put the ball in the hole and as a team, Kansas (8-4 SU) is beginning to gel after a slow start.
Will the Jayhawks roll like they did in Kentucky's previous visit to Allen Fieldhouse? Well, no because that day in December, 1989 resulted in a Kansas 150-95 rout. But it will be more like last season, when the Jayhawks scored a 65-59 win at Kentucky. Kansas will be jacked up and so will the home crowd as the Jayhawks pull away for this win and cover.
