hello to all fellow madjackers, I'm happy to kick off the new season with a play on the wolfpack so caveat emtor:

nc state -26: I have a feeling that this will be the year that doeren finally gets his way with the offense. all the pieces are there - qb jacoby brissett is the real deal, doeren has recruited some depth in the o line, and the other skill positions are solid. when the pack went on their little run to close out last season, it was the rushing game that stepped up with more than 300 rushing yards the last three games of the season.

troy state gave up 36ppg and 450ypg last year playing in the sun belt, and this will be a rebuilding year for them under a new first time head coach.

odu/emu over 61: these teams played last year in Norfolk with odu winning 17-3, scoring their tds on a 55 yd run from scrimmage and a punt return. yet for the rematch this total opened up at 66- and understandably has been bet down steadily. closer look reveals both teams have talented young qbs, odu redshirt frosh shuler bently was a 2x sc gaterade player of the year in hs - that's pretty strong in my book. emu's qb reggie bell led is a dual threat qb with a significant upside. both teams had bad ds last year that look to have gotten worse. lets say some pointys go up this afternoon.

the odu/emu line is in freefall right now @ 59- and counting. abit of rain in the forecasr but nothing heavy or with heavy winds. I suppose i'll wait for it to settle and then bet again into the line move - sometimes in just stubborn like that. I also took a piece of emu tt over 28.

some others I played:

fau +4 and +190: this team has made me a good chunck over the past few years - a beast of a road dog.

so miss +21: something seems to be cooking in Starkville, maybe some major improvement in sight.

thanks ie. the Bently kid I mentioned above has never thrown a pass in a college game, pretty likely they will run Lawry at will. just don't think anybodys going to stop anybody.

Those two were in the suite across the hall from me in '71-'72. Two genuinely nice guys. Davids problems didnt really start until he got to denver. I still see him at games from time to time. Hes the same nice guy now that he was 45 years ago. Still see tommy from time to time also.

hey bosco. I hope my statement about so miss looking improved didn't sound too hyperbolic but anything is better than what ellis Johnson left them with. at least todd monken is getting some in state recruits and has a qb in mullens that can get them down the field. I look at their schedule and I see the possibility, albeit remote, of a 6 win season. every long journey starts with the first step.

fla atlantic barely misses the outright win to spoil the sweep but all in all a pretty good day. on to next week.
