sorry for cluttering the forum but Starting a new thread bcoz the other thread had too many vents and bad mojo for these Unders

Playing the following
Boston Bruins Under 2 1/2 Goals
Had written writeup for same play last Tuesday. Belfour has great numbers against Boston this year. In his career in 3 games against Boston on the road he has allowed 0, 3 and 2 goals respectively.
This season other than the 4 goals in the first match .. he has held Boston to 0 goals and 2 goals respectively. In the beginning of the season he was not comfortable with Toronto defence but has played exceedingly well and I for one am happy to see him suceed and he has looked much better than Cujo has looked in Detroit.
Joe Thornton will be watching the game from hospital. He is by far Boston's best offensive player. Boston are in a huge slump w/o him and have averaged 2.0 goals in last 5 games. Meanwhile the gritty Leafs have given up 2.0 goals per game in last 5.
Boston power play is 0 % in last 5 games.
Toronto penalty kill is @ 79.2% in last 5 games which is well below their season average of 83.9% but they did save a lot of penalties in pittsburg.
I think Eddie gets a shutout today. With Sundin in the lineup the Leafs will certainly be pumped up. With the Boston goaltending having tremendous problems I see them being down early on.
After folding in the last game against Leafs the following was a comment from one of the Boston players
"It's tough right now," said Bruins forward P.J. Stock. "It's hard to keep spirits high. We get ourselves all jacked up for (Tuesday's game against the Leafs) and we're all pumped. I thought it was going pretty well. Then all of a sudden in the last period, it was like heads down again. It's difficult. It's like there are a bunch of balloons on the team and every (opposing) goal pops the air out of some of them. You try to crank everyone back up but we're too fragile right now. We keep falling down too easy."
That gives us an idea of the attitude in the dressing room. After yesterdays performance against Sabres this has been confirmed.
Expected Final Score:
Toronto 3 Boston 0
Montreal Canadiens Under 3 Goals
Montreal is the favorite in this game. They just had a big win over the Rangers and broke their 7 game losing streak. Sabres have been scoring a lot of goals lately while playing good defence. The new kid Miller has been tending the goal well. Biron makes his first start since Dec 30 I think.
The line shud be Montreal Under 2 1/2 Goals in my opinion. With 3 it takes Montreal 4 goals to take our $$$.
In last 5 games Buffalo has given up 2.0 goals per game and Montreal has scored 2.4 goals per game. Montreal Power Play is down to 15.8 while Buffalo Penalty killing is up to 93.8 % in the last 5 games.
Montreal offensively has not been clicking very well ( and I hope they dont today also ). Gilmour will mostly not be in the lineup.
Biron has faced Montreal 5 times on the road. In these five games he has conceded 1, 0, 1, 2 and 3 goals respectively.
In the only game he faced Montreal this season he held Montreal to one goal. Lifetime he has faced Montreal 8 times and conceded 3 goals two times and given up 2 goals or less 6 times. The goaltending will be very good today since he will be confident against Montreal. He has had plenty of rest and shud be sharp.
Buffalo is also having a good offensive outburst and are much more confident both offensively and defensively.
Expected Final Score :
Buffalo 3 Montreal 1
Florida @ Washington Under 5 Goals
I was thinking of playing the Washington Under 3 goals. But the recent offensive performance by Washington has got me thinking.
Florida's Jan games have all gone under. Florida plays much better hockey on the road both offensively and defensively.
The under is 6-0-2 in Florida's last eight overall.
The under is 4-1 in the past five meetings.
The under is 8-2-2 in WAS's last 12 overall.
In last 5 games
Florida has been averaging 2.0 goals per game
Caps have been averaging 2.6 goals per game
Florida has given up 1.6 goals per game
Caps have given up 2.0 goals per game
Florida PP is @ 12.5% while Caps PP is @ 18.8% over last 5.
Florida PK is @ 86.4% while Caps PK is @ 86.4% over last 5
so PP is down while Penalty killing is up significantly. Thats good for the Under.
Coming to goaltending:
Kolzig has been solid in the net.
In previous game with Florda @ home Kolzig has given up
1, 3, 0, 1, 3, 2, 2, 3, 2, 4, 2, 1 and 4 goals.
With his recent hot play I expect him to hold Florida to one goal or so.
Both Florida goaltenders have pretty good numbers against the Capitals. Both meetings this season have gone under. Though with Bondra and Jagr back for the Caps the offence is much more potent than it was before.
An interesting stat for all those who follow this:
On Saturdays Washington Game Under is 10 - 2
Lets try to make it 11 - 2
Expected Final Score: Washington 3 Florida 1
[Washington scores on an empty netter]
NJ Devils @ Tampa Bay Under 5 Goals
I was thinking of not making a play on this one. but TB has been struggling offensively and with NJ not a huge offensive team this seems to be the right moment to make this play. TB has been giving up a horrendous number of goals recently. That is the only concern I have.
The under is 14-3 when the Devils are away.
NJ is second in PK at 86.95%.
TB scores 3.3 gls/gm when home.
The scoring is down @ home so that is the good news. NJ being huge defensive team is good for the Under also.
Brodeur shud be starting in the net for the Devils. The Khabu wall has played well in last couple of games. I expect anaemic defence from both sides.
In last 5 games
Devils are averaging 1.8 goals per game
TB is averaging 1.6 goals per game
NJ is giving up 1.4 goals per game
TB is giving up 3.6 goals per game
NJ PP is @ 10.5%
TB PP is @ 16.7%
NJ PK is @ 88.9%
TB PK is @ 72.2%
Expected final Score: Devils 2 TB 2
# The toss up is really betn the Game total Under 5 or playing the TB Team Total Under 2 1/2
