NJ at Pittsburg

NJ at Pittsburg

1:05 pm EST

NJ 8-13-4 away
Pitt 13-12-2 at home

Three meetings this season. Each team shutting out the other on home ice, last 2. In first Pitt defeated NJ in swamp Pitt 6-0, NJ 4-0, Pitt 5-1
Pitt 6-3-1 in last 10
NJ 4-3-3 in last 10. 2-1-1 under new coach.
The last team he coached was Pittsburg.

Pitt has gotten 1 goal in last 13 PP opportunities.

These two teams are close in points, fighting each other to catch NYR for last playoff spot. And Pitt takes on NYR sunday in NY. NJ takes on Buff in swamp sun.

Philadelphia at St Louis

Philadelphia at St Louis

glad you appreciate it fellows!

Phila 17-9-3 on road (2nd best to Detroit)
STL 19-7-1 at home

Phil 3-4-3 on 2 days rest
STL 18-8-1 on 1 day rest

STL 11-4 on 1 day rest after win
Phila 1-1 on 2 days rest after loss

But Flyers' last loss was royal embarassment at Anaheim. They blew no less than three 2 goal leads! "Pee-wee hockey out there" said Boucher. Lots of defensive breakdowns.

So this pissed off and red-faced team heads into STL with Chech in goal. He's 7-1-1 last 9 starts, allowing 3 goals or less in each. He's 3-0-0 vs STL, 1.98 gga, .993 pct.

STL papers say Braithwaite in goal for Blues tonight. He's 1-2-0 vs Phila, 3.34 gga, .872 pct. But 8-8-4 on season with 1.93 gga, .913 pct.

STL 11-4 last 10
Phila 5-4-1 last 10

One meeting this season, Flyers won on home ice 6-3 (12/18)

Al MacInnis expected to play sez AP

overnight line, Phila +.5 -125 or +120. I like it!

Montreal at Toronto

Montreal at Toronto

First, gotta apologize for some bad numbers I had in Pitt matchup (3 season meetings, not 2. and five points off NYR, not 3). Corrected those. Have to be more careful!

Toronto's no2 scorer Mogilny won't play today, "will likely miss monday's game against" ATL, sez paper.

No1 Toronto defenseman Yushkevich out for a month.

Toronto 17-7-2 at home
MTL 10-15-4 away

Leafs 7-0-1 at home vs Habs, last 8.
Habs have never won at Air Canada Centre

Three meetings this season. Toronto (home) 1-1, Toronto (home) 6-4, MTL (home) 2-2

Cujo and Theodore in the crease for all those, as tonight.

Theodore last two starts were shutouts. But he's 3.50 gga, .859 save pct in third game after shutout. He's 1-1-2 vs Leafs, 2.95 gga, .907 pct

Cujo is 12-12-3 vs MTL, 2.86 gga, .898 pct.
He hasn't been sharp of late. But you think he'd try to show why he needs to be on Olympic team.

MTL 5-5-4 on 1 days rest after a win
Toronto 6-4 on 1 days rest after loss

MTL over 14-11 away
Tor over 11-12 home

under has hit 2-1-2 last 6 Leafs games
under has hit 6-4 last 6 Habs' games

Boucher in goal

Boucher in goal

I was surprised to read in STL paper that they list Boucher tonight. He has been trading duties with probable no1 goalie Chech. So who knows?

Boucher has started against STL just once. Won that game letting in 2 goals, .931 save pct. He was relatively poor in last outing, should be sharper in next.

and Cap's Kolzig could be out, injured knee against Nash. But still played. www.washtimes.com/sports/ Decision today sometime for tonight's game against Lightning.

St Louis - Al MacInnis remains on track to return to the ice today, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. He has missed the last three games with a bruised foot. And like T-ray said, Boucher and Braithwaite expected in nets.

Calgary - Dean McAmmond might play Saturday night, according to the AP. He has been out for five games with a rib injury. Calgary center Steve Begin could return from an eight-game absence on Saturday, according to the AP. He's been out with a shoulder injury and has begun practicing with the Flames.

Goalies???

Goalies???

no problem TX!!!

Theodore's letdown third-game-after-a-shutout trend continued predictably today. Most goalies, this trend is next game after a shutout.

But I can't get info on other goalie starts today. Real frustrating..Where is Wigs?

It's a beautiful sunny day here in CenTX. That could explain it.

Goalies??............................................
Could, should, be Vokoun for Nash
Billington for WA
Auld for Van, Vernon for Calgary
Passmore for Chi?

I can't get info on any of it. Checking papers, official sites, etc.

Chech in goal for Phila, just as I figured. Didn't trust that newspaper report.

Guy from another site sez Calgary players mad and want to bang around a physical game tonight.

More dissention in clubhouse there too. Vernon put in waiver process and not happy about it...He started out bad this season, but has been good of late.
