friday - 3-1 +2.00

afternoon plays:

sf +104: taking a chance on hermanson coming off the dl, but paul wilson has a career era of 5.96 vs the giants and 5.50 in day games.

col +220: another ugly play but no way does maddux still rate this kind of chalk, and hp ump miller is not likely to give him the corner calls he needs to be in top form.

sd -106: huge edge in hitting, with padres batting .386 vs lefties on the road, .324 last 10, scoring 6.7 rpg. marlins hitting .253 vs righties at home, .243 last 10, putting up 2.8 rpg. besides, darren oliver has been a favorite fade of mine for awhile when pitching against teams that hit lefties well. he's pulling an 8.54 era so far this year, with a 5.15 career era in day games. valdes has a 2.93 career era vs the marlins, 4.16 in day games. finally, pads 4-0 this year in game two of series coming off a loss.

minny +187: a little scary playing against hudson at home, but another game with a big hitting edge for the dog.

cle/bal over 9 +110: westbrook on a roll but carries a 5.00 career era in day games. both teams pounding righties. cederstrom one of the more reliable over umps from year to year.

will try to get back with some night plays. g/l

Padres are the better offensive team but they look to be missing Burroughs and Klesko right now. I think you have a winner but they're just not as potent as before

true, klesko and burroughs are formidable threats against lefties, but thus far this year burroughs 10 for 36. .278, with one extra base hit; klesko a little better @ 6 for 15, but still only one extra base hit. collectively thus far, they actually bring the team averages down a tad.

two totals for tonight:

phi/az under 8-: webb one of the best young talents in the majors, with the microscpic home era this year, 2.75 era career vs phillies. milton no allstar but good enough as d'backs suck against lefties, .198 as a team.

nyy/sea under 9: meche 3.09 career vs yankees, 3.51 in safeco. mussina 3.50 lifetime vs the m's, 2.35 in safeco. . mariners under 10 of last 14 in safeco.
