6:00pm florida state seminoles (+2)
line has moved considerably in this one, from fsu -1.5 to kent -2. i cant justify it. flashes have had trouble getting consistent scoring this season so far. they really could use gerwig right now. their inability to put the ball in the basket is what allowed old dominion to stay in the game earlier this week, and all it took was one odu run and kent collapsed. fsu no prize, but after their embarrassing loss to corpus christi, they shouldnt be taking any game for granted.

1:00pm toledo rockets (+1.5)

toledo has had a full week (8 days) to correct the mistakes made in the season opener at vanderbilt. rockets started spotted vandy a 9-0 lead and had 6 turnovers in the first 2:30 of the game (4 before even attempting a shot) before settling in. toledo just has too much offense for wright. rockets might have been a little outclassed in vandy. a week later, wright is a little outclassed by toledo.

10:00pm pepperdine waves (+5)
10:00pm pepperdine waves moneyline

waves have been a stock market team the first two weeks. no consistency and lots of ups and downs. but this team is loaded with talent and i kinda get the feeling they were looking ahead to this early season game at home. its their home opener after a neutral court tourney out east and then a trip to long beach. ryan would be wise to focus the badgers guys for this quick west coast trip because malibu is never an easy place to play. wisky staring at a huge game with maryland in the big 10/acc challenge on tuesday. really think pepperdine should win in this spot.

7:00pm buffalo bulls (-8)

think this game sets up nicely for buffalo early on. bulls might have been reading too many press clippings in the offseason. yes, theyre the best team in the mac east, but theyve looked any but that in the first two games. they didnt even compete in uconn, and then struggled with fdu. but they catch isu of a low-scoring heartbreaker on the road in bloomington. that game means a lot to the sycamores and i think theyre gonna have a one game hangover. if buffalo gets out in transition, they win by 10+. this should be the game where buffalo gets off and rolling this season.

Gman,

Have you seen a line for the Gonzaga game tomorrow? Could be a chance to go against them here. Public may look at Gonzaga at having a chance against Illinois....books may play into that. If Gonzaga is keeps it within 15 I'd be surprised....

any thoughts?

saw 7's on that game. no opinion for me. gonzaga has been erratic out of the gate vs some weaker foes, but theyre normally pretty good in these early season marquee matchup games. a definite pass for me. but 7s are gonna be out there at the books if you want to grab illinois early

Thanks...I need to change books. Mine doesn't post lines until 10 or so the morning of. Lines have usually settled. I'd like to play it at 7 big and small at 10. Can you suggest a good book?

zags +7.5 ... their guards are not up to snuff, stay away from zags this year until lines settle ... tho I was kinda surprised they were getting this many, may show the books have already caught up ...

errol knight injured, so already thin

Raviio (or however you spell it) will try and prove himself in this game against 2 top notch guards (that's not even counting Head). He can shoot but is often out of control. The Illini guards will dominate the game and create the tempo they want. The Zags struggled against a good shooting, high scoring team(Portland State) in the first half because they thought they could outscore Portland. They were right. Will the Zags come out and try and outscore the Illini? For the Zags sake I hope not...there's no way they can play this game in the 80's. I'm not even sure they could win in the 70's. The problem is not 1 zag guard can guard any of the Illini starter guards. I'm guessing they'll go to zone early and often. Illini guards are shooting something silly from 3..like almost 50%. Zone busters...pick your poison...drives to the basket...or raining 3's..they'll choose 3's and hope they miss.

The Zags have one of the best if not the best 4 man in Turiaf. He gets to the fouline often...however against the Illini they are bigger on the bench than on the court so foul trouble shouldn't hurt them too much. I just don't see the zags staying within 8....I love them them though so it's tough for me to bet against them..but sometimes there's no choice.

If my book has it at 8 I'll take it pretty large.

Sorry to put this in your thread Gman...not too comfortable starting my own yet.

two observations:

1) toledo has some serious issues to work out. its early, but for an offense that has the potential to put up 77-78 pts a game to have games of 57 and 64 out of the gate (and against two mediocre teams no less) -- thats alarming.

2) if pepperdine doesnt seriously contend in the wcc and win at least one of the two games from gonzaga this season, westphal should be fired. waves have so much damn talent.

3) fsu is downright terrible. kent state didnt even play well and the noles still were playing from behind the whole game. if an average mac team like kent will be this season is dominating you, god help your program in the acc this winter.
