Saturday Plays
Yesterday ended the day +ve but one bad decision on my part to make a play on Phoenix.
Seattle was a good play in my mind but did not account for 58 free throws in the game.
If there are so many free throws it means the refs are calling lot of fouls and clock is
stopped a lot. Needless to say lost the Under by 6 points.
I am looking at lines at SIA right now and Sacremento is listed @ 2.5
Wonder if there are any injuries. If there were major injuries the under would have dropped I would have thought.
Raymond took this line early with Sac -5 .. I saw Sac +2.5 at parlaycard.com yesterday night. I am still trying to figure out why there was a 7.5 point differential betn what raymond took and it is @ SIA.
Only explaination I have so far is that mebbe people are overestimating the Dallas team with so much talent brough in from Denver.
Nolan has a great writeup in the free picks section.
1. Sacremento/Dallas Sacremento +2.5
Sacremento is a team which does not like to lose .. period. Now they are not a great team on the road agreed but I think they do play hard. Dallas managed 2 squeak by a Boston team which fell apart in the final 2 minutes or so. Dallas are 19-8 at home and have almost same record on the road. This is good for the visiting team in Dallas because they do not play harder than they play on the road at home e.g. Minny who plays very hard at home and falters on the road.
Sacremento lost the game to the Spurs the day before. The Spurs were managing to hit everything they were throwing up in the first half. 11 - 11 three pointers is just 2 much to overcome. EVen though I did not have money on the game what I saw was SAC getting outplayed 30-17 in the third quarter .. But in the fourth quarter they were still fighting .. outscoring Spurs 30-17 .. granted most of the starters were on the bench but still .. its the fighting atttitute that I am looking for.
In post game comments this was what Vlade Divac had to say
"It was ridiculous," said Sacramento center Vlade Divac, who finished with seven points and nine rebounds. "But that wasn't the reason (we lost). The reason was that we didn't play defense."
I think the Kings are very very very pissed off @ what transpired on Thursday and will step up their defence in a big way.
Here are some trends :
SAC is 15-9 ATS on one days rest.
The over is 14-8 for the Kings on the road this season.
SAC is 4-2 ATS in the last six meetings.
The over is 4-1 in the last five meetings.
DAL is 16-10 ATS on one days rest.
The over is 17-9 for the Mav's at home this season.
I had said that I would not play in teams involved in a trade but here I think the trade hurts Dallas more as it is hard 2 accomodate 2 many stars in one team. Managing playing time is a huge hassle. Also team Chemistry .. Nowitzki has been playing like a zombie ever since Finley returned other than the last game against Boston.
Some other trends :
Sacramento is 9-4-0 ATS in their last 13 games
Dallas is 1-4-0 ATS in their last 5 at home
Trends for Sacremento:
After a loss are 8-2
After playing San Antonio are 7-3
Before playing Utah are 7-1
When playing on Saturday are 8-2
Trends for Dallas:
After a win are 6-4
After playing Boston are 3-6
Before playing Memphis are 7-3
When playing on Saturday are 7-3
In the last 10 games Sac are 6-4 ATS and Dallas are 4-6 ATS
In the 2 meetings betn this season Dallas beat Sac in Sac in OT after Peja missed a free throw to end the game in regulation.
The road dog has won outright in both prior meetings this year, including Sacramento's 12 point win at Dallas on November 29th. The Mavs did return the favor three nights later at the Arco Arena, but let's not forget that Chris Webber was not playing in either. He is back, healthy and ready to go.
Webber also got a huge shoe contract yesterday and here are his words :
"The fact they were giving me equity in the company, that there was a woman at the helm, a black woman who is successful, plus the profits they've already made, made it attractive. And being in the position to sign any athlete I want was exciting to me.
"And I have the opportunity to be a businessman while I'm playing basketball and exploit myself instead of having someone else do it."
I think he is happy and ready 2 go ..
Also the game against Spurs was televised nationally. And it was embarassing and disheartening.
Well guess what .. the game 2day against Dallas is televised Nationally also .. another motivation to keep ur games appearing on TNT .. i would think so ..
How will the new guys fit into the Dallas rotation .. got this from the Dallas News.com website

"It's going to be a very good team when we know how to play with each other," Nelson said.
But that's the part that might take a while. Friday's practice lasted nearly two hours instead of the typical one-hour session, and contained more than a bit of confusion. The new players haven't yet had an opportunity to study the Mavericks' playbook, and discovered that the Nuggets and Mavericks have many plays with the same name ? that are completely different.
"I'm criss-crossing into guys," LaFrentz said. "We'll call out one play, and I'll run the old Denver play and be lost."
Fellow Kansas alum Danny Manning helped the new Mavericks center with many of the details, but the squad expects some uneasiness until everyone is adjusted.
"You have to wing it for the first week or so until they get accustomed to the terminology, play-calling and all the complicated defensive stuff we do," Nelson said.

2 points which struck me here are :
1. If Nash did not practice on Friday that means when they play today he has not played with the new guys.
2. New guys do not know the play for each number called.
This can lead to some confusion I think. I played basketball for my school and if there is miscommunication as to the play called that can be trouble. If Nash's leg is hurting (he has been playing well over 40 mins a game) then Dallas will hurt as the whole offence runs thru this guy . ..
I would take Sacremento big as there is nothing more motivating than to beat a team which has beaten u at home and also coming back from a very embarassing defeat in SA.
Cheers !!!

# Have taken SAC big and also moneyline
# with regards to the total I would be careful of the over. If SAC are gonna play defence 2day that would slow the pace of the game down. Also Dallas having new players sometimes upsets the smooth offense of a team.
