last weekend before the bowl games. i'm just due for a terrible week, so you may want to fade these.

rutgers (-2.5) 3 units. just love rutgers here. wvu coming off a huge win over their archrivals. a little payback for a couple years ago. wvu has not been good on the road though. their only road win was at syracuse, and that barely counts. and they have beaten rutgers at least 10 straight years. how focused will they be on this game? rutgers, on the other hand, is quietly finishing up a very solid season. their run defense has been very good. if wvu struggles to run the ball today, rutgers should win this one.

east carolina (+3) 1 unit. i don't like the line movement in this one, but it makes sense. houston has been ranked most of the year. however, they have a porous defense, and i trust skip holtz to figure out a) how to slow down the cougars' offense just enough and b) how to score enough points to win this game. they didn't play this year, but the road team has covered 5 straight in this matchup. houston dropped their last 2 road games ATS.

clemson (pk) 2 units. in the first matchup this year, i remember thinking how absolutely unprepared clemson was to play that football game. dabo (is that his real name? must be a southern thing.) was ridiculously outcoached, but clemson had enough to come back and make a game of it. i HAVE to believe the tigers will be more prepared for the game today. i wish their qb wasn't a redshirt freshman, but for the most part he has looked pretty good this year.

nebraska/texas under (46.5) 2 units. here is the national ranking in total defense of texas' opponents this year - 45, 83, 48, 111, 60, 7, 55, 32, 46, 96, 74, 107. wow, they have played one defense ranked in the top 30 all year (that's the big 12 for you). that #7 ranking really jumps out at you, doesn't it? well, that was oklahoma. final score of that game? 16-13. well, nebraska has the 11th ranked defense in the country. bo pelini has done a great job with the cornhuskers. i will probably take the points here also, but the under is the stronger play.
