Pulling the trigger...

taking:

1) HOUSTON game 1 (-185), Oswalt pitching.
Houston lost and they have Oswalt pitching.
(3 unitz)

anyone like the split in this doubleheader and they like PITTSBURGH in game two?

laying off the arizona pick because of
A Lopes starting..can't pull the trigger on arizona unless someone has some better stats to back arizona up.

game 2 : just found this.
Penny vs "Tickle me Elmer"
AKA: Florida vs Cinci, two good pitchers (pitch, better have my money...)
Elmer has an awesome O/U record at home 1-8.
after the offensive onslaught from last nite, this could turn into a pitcher's duel.
taking the under 9 (-115)

Penny is 5-2 in nite games with an ERA of
3.49...maybe you might wanna lean to a florida win...?
elmer is 3-5 at nite with an ERA of 4.24.
at home he is 3-6.
and we all know cinci is good for one home win in every three, and they got THAT one last nite.

"...Quo fas et gloria ducunt..."
just found this one as well...
one of my fav home pitchers this year.

game 3: Chan "where's my Ho??" PArk
taking L.A -145 over the ace Hampton and COLORADO.
chan is 6-1 at home with an era of around 2.00
hampton, is well...hampton.
again, these are the games that L.A need to win in order to stay near first.

I return to this hospitable thread for one more try.

I have changed my luck! Ray's fav parlay . . . I made it a five team runline parlay and added a few more threes and fours. Did NOT get me out of the red for the week (worst week in years) but gave me confidence to post again! Is that good?

HOUSTON Game 1 with Oswalt. Popular play for good reason. Two of the B's (Berkman and Bagwell) caught hell from Dierker for Ks with the bases full, swinging at pitches in the dirt. They will do better today. Arroyo is back up from the minors and, although he beat them twice, the Astros have seen him enough to hit him today. The Bucs have never faced Oswalt before today. Williams may not be available in relief for Pirates today. (After this Astros win in Gm 1, Bucs and Anderson might be worth a good look in the second game. DH's split 60-70% of the time.)

PHILLIES (Daal) to beat the Mets. Phillies are adding and the Mets are subtracting. The remaining Mets have to feel a little let down after recent trades.
Phillies are 16-5 in Daal's starts even though the past two have been losses. The Expos shut out the Phillies in Daal's LG and I think that they will work hard to give him more run support today. Phil's relief staff is stronger although Bear Tooth Boy and Constipated Cook (thanks, Eddie) are far from my favorite relievers.
This play--and the next one--predicated as much on Phillies' mindset as contenders as anything else.

Phillies/Mets OVER 8. I look for Phils to have a huge offensive game. Might take it over all by themselves.

DODGERS (Park caught by Kreuter) over Rockies. My Game of The Week.
Kreuter, you may remember, was also newly-traded Baldwin's personal receiver in Chicago (96-99) for a few years. He will be auditioning for that same job today even though Tracy has said Lo Duca's his guy.
Park wins at home. Period.
I hope that Lo Duca (and his .345) average will be in the field somewhere but at worst he could PH.
Green is hitting HRs every game for LA (6 in 7 games) while Pierre and Helton are slumping for the Rocks.
The Dodgers are on a roll, fans are louder than ever and the players' heads are finally in the game. LA Times mentioned heads up base running and hitting and they are rarely generous in their comments about the home team.
The bullpen (including Herges, my least favorite) have not been overused. Shaw threw 9 pithces for the save last night and Herges 13. Neither allowed a base runner. Both are ready today. If this were 8' or maybe even 8, I would also take under but I don't like 7's at all with a hot hitting inspired team although Hampton may have begun to end his particularly bad streak with a good game last week.

BRAVOS (Glavine The Road Warrior) over Expos. Posting a game opposite Nolan? Crazy but I think I have the reasons. Braves are 20-5 L25 road games. Cammy will rest Sunday and not today according to Cox. Glavine's ERA is 0.95 in his L27 IPs. This will be a good, close game but I can't pass "Cy" Glavine even vs a hot Vasquez and the Expos.

Myette vs BeerBrat?? OK, let's lay -165 on a kid just up from the minors whose ML ERA is 11 and who gave up 6 runs in 4.1 IPs last time he face the DRays. Or maybe take 155 on Bierbrodt? No, thanks
OVER 12 looks like a nice play to me.

I had three units on the game.

-185 x 3 = -5.55 UNITZ.

and yes, since this is a doubleheader, i will be chasing my money in the second game.
I'm not being reckless, i'm just playing the law of averages....heh heh heh.

good luck to me.
