Going to play both Chicago teams.

I don't play much in bases. With that said it looks like Vegas is begging you to take Mil here. Sheet's domination with Maddux's recent woes and bad press would make Mil the easy play here. The problem is Mil is bad enough to be easily dominated by whatever Maddux has left. The Cubs have really been giving Mil their wins, often Mil hasn't been earning them IMO. With it being a 2nd day game and all the fans crocked and ready to roar, Sammy probably shows up big here. Perfect spot for the Cubs to show the talent difference.

As Blackman (I think) stated....Garcia was brought here for this. He should step up. This isn't the old mgr for the Sox. He doesn't accept losing with a contemplative lean and shrug as the old did. The bats should show up with their new fearless leader on the mound against the deadly A's weak bats.

GL on your action

Sox offense relies soooo much on the long ball that this stadium hampers their offense. I do think that Garcia can keep the A's from scoring much, so the Sox have a chance, but I've been let down by them EVERY TIME they go out west.

Go Sox!!!!

Is it more than a coincidence that Chicago Cubs starter Greg Maddux has an impeccable record against the Milwaukee Brewers?

If Milwaukee hadn?t been the doormat of the NL Central for the last decade or so and Maddux hadn?t been playing on one of the most successful teams of recent history, critics might be more suspicious of a guy who has a 6-2 lifetime record against a team on which his older brother coaches.

Mike Maddux has been the Brewers' pitching coach for two years. While he?s done a good job molding a young pitching staff that now has a sparkling 3.92 team ERA, skeptics might wonder if he?s not passing on some insider information to his little brother.

Since 2002, when Mike was hired by the Brewers, Greg is 2-1 against his brother?s team. Not a daunting record, but in his last two outings, he has pitched 12 innings and given up zero runs.

Both those games were with the Braves, Maddux?s former team, and they won by a combined score of 14-2.

Conspiracy? Not likely.

Maddux was a higher than ?200 favorite in both those games and Milwaukee is traditionally one of the worst hitting teams in baseball. This year isn?t much different.

The Brewers are batting .256 as a team, 24th in the Majors, and it?s been even worse when the Cubs are the opposition.

They managed only 2 ? runs per game over four contests with Chicago this season, but amazingly, that?s been enough for a 3-1 record and slightly less than a three unit net profit.

Coach Maddux and his pitching staff deserve the credit for those wins. Three different starters allowed only five runs over four games against the Cubs, including two shutouts.

Ben Sheets and Matt Clement combined for the most impressive outing when the two fireballers duked it out the first time the two teams met this season. Sheets came out on top in an excruciating 1-0 pressure-cooker that produced only nine combined hits.

Hits could again be scarce in Saturday?s showdown between Sheets and Maddux. Just as Maddux has dominated the Brewers, Sheets has been a thorn in Chicago?s side.

He is 8-3 in his career against the Cubs and even in his three losses, he didn't allow more than three runs in any game. The under is 8-2-1 in those games. Similarly, six of Maddux?s eight starts against Milwaukee played the under.
