I think it's going to be a long year for the Badgers..Alvarez is going to a wide-out spread this year as compared to 3yds and a cloud of DUST(turf)whatever in the years past......
A TIP.. take Virginia BIG vs Wis 7/26/01..Wis with new Offense and 4 freshman in def backfield..Coach"we only have 3 weeks to get guys ready to play, it isn't easy to do and hasn't been done here very often..THey do start slow, this is one game I'm going to be All over $$$$$$..

Mike Echols is a D back who people don't know of only because of Jamar Fletcher -- he'll never leave the field. Guys who have played and started before return at safety, as well, so I'd be interested to know what you are referring to.

4 freshmen may get looks there, but 2 of them will certianly redshirt.

Barry and I were members of Mason City Country Club, Mason City, Iowa back in the late 70's. Barry won a state high school championship before heading to Iowa, under Hayden Fry.

The rest is history.

Concerning the 4 frosh in the bkfld,yes Boese, Echols, and a junior that slips my mind at the moment will start in the bkfld.
But, IMO as per Alvarez's track record if the bkfld doesn't perform to expectations he will play who he considers to be in the best interest of winning. Boese can hit, but he is a slug.

Didn't mean to touch a nerve, but that's how I see it.

Aug. 26th will be the proving ground, if you think I'm wrong on the Virgina game, time will tell..
