northwestern/ru under (48.5) 2 units. hard to imagine rutgers scoring much, and northwestern is going to run run run today to rest thorson's arm after 65 passes last week. they need him rested, with wisconsin, nd, and iowa the next three weeks. *side note* rutgers' qb last week... 2 of 16 for 8 yards, with 4 INTs. let that soak in for a minute.

*side note #2* what sort of crazy world are we living in when UB is favored at toledo? clearly the apocalypse is nigh.

michigan (-7.5) 2 units
under (40) 4 units. i really like the wolverines to dominate this game. patterson is going to be the difference against a sparty defense that, are you ready for this?, is 117th in the country, giving up 286 passing yards/game. michigan is #1 in the country, allowing 129 passing yards/game. which means msu is going to need to get the ground game going. and they still don't have a running back with over 200 yards for the season. let's call this... michigan 27-10.

ole miss (ML) 1 unit to win 1.7. ok, hard to really like the rebels. this is purely a bet against auburn. they have dropped 2 straight, both in games they were favored. since the season opening win against washington, their wins are against alabama st, arkansas, and southern miss. so they haven't beaten an sec opponent yet (sorry, hogs fans, couldn't resist.)

tulsa (+7) 2 units
tulsa (ML) 1 unit to win 2.3. speaking of the hogs... wow, they are hosting a team from the aac that is 1-5 on the year with their only win against central arkansas. and the hogs are only laying a td. that's sad. tulsa has been competitive against better teams than arkansas and maybe, just maybe, they can pull off the shocker today.

nebraska (-5) 2 units. hard to take the huskers laying points to anyone, but maybe they have turned the corner with two straight covers. minnesota's defense has been terrible in big 10 play, giving up 90 to maryland and iowa before making a good showing at ohio st. martinez has been getting better every game since his return, and this gopher defense might be exactly what he wants to see.

nc st (+17.5) 2 units. clemson has only beaten the wolfpack by 7 the last two years, and i think those clemson teams were better than this year's version. finley is going to have to have a huge game, because nc st can't run the ball.

wake forest (+8.5) 5 units
wake forest (ML) 1 unit to win 2.8. yeah, the deacs are pretty bad this year. but they've had a week off to lick their wounds after the clemson beatdown. and they are undefeated on the road this year. (sure, they are 1-0, with the win in the season opener at tulane. but still. undefeated.) anyway, this is purely a wager against the seminoles. here is a list of the teams fsu has beaten this year: samford, northern ill, and louisville (and they barely beat a bad louisville team. and, shit, they barely beat samford.) oh, and look at the next three weeks for the noles... clemson (!), nc st, and notre dame. so we have a mediocre fsu team with a strong possibility of looking past today's opponent. i'll take the points, thank you.

odu (+4) 4 units
odu (ML) 2 units to win 3. two bad teams, but the fav struggles to score (31 points total in two conference games). perfect setup for the dog who can put points on the board. this is kinda crazy, but odu's only win on the year is against virginia tech. so they are more than capable of beating a bad wku team.

uab (-1) 2 units.
under (53.5) 2 units. interesting game. uab's defense has been ridiculous, holding 3 conference opponents to a total of 14 points. and they are 3rd in the country, allowing 135 passing yards/game. north texas may try to establish the ground game, which is not their strength. i like the home team to pull out a win.

washington st (-3) 4 units. oregon is 88th in the country, allowing 239 passing yards/game. and, more telling, they are 119th in the country, giving up 14.3 yards/completion. that's a problem, against the #1 passing offense in the country (30 yards ahead of #2).

thanks, ej. always scary when i play this many games.

i certainly wouldn't try to talk anyone off that over. i feel like those expected shootouts always start out 6-3 after one quarter, and then explode.
