marshall (ML) 4 units to win 6. taking a shot against the hokies. they've had a very disappointing season, but then pulled off a miraculous win over virginia. i don't know how much focus they've put on marshall this week. are they really going to be fired up to go to some mediocre bowl game? meanwhile, marshall has nothing to lose today.

marshall/vt over first half (26) 2 units
marshall/vt over (51) 2 units. there has been at least 52 points scored in every vt home game. hard to see their defense clamping down today.

texas (+9.5) 3 units
texas (ML) 1 unit to win 3.
over (79) 3 units. let's face it - as bad as oklahoma's defense is, their opponent is always in the game. getting some good numbers to take a shot with the longhorns.

jimmy mad/colgate under (37.5) 2 units. two very good defenses colliding in this one. the line seems a little fishy, so i'm staying off a side. colgate looks far too easy.

uab (ML) 4 units to win 4.2. the blue raiders had a huge motivational edge last week, but i like the uab defense to return to form today. prior to that game, the blazers had give up all of 7 points total in 3 conference road games.

uab/mtsu under (44.5) 5 units. first team to 10 wins!

cal (ML) 2 units to win 2.8. another game with a big motivational edge for one team. on the strength of their defense, the bears have had a solid season. and no doubt they'd love to beat the cardinal for the first time since 2009. since garbers took over as the starter, they are 4-1. and in the one loss, they only gave up 19 to washington st.

georgia (+12) 2 units
georgia (ML) 1 unit to win 3.7
under (64) 4 units. first, a comment from captain obvious - "this is the best opponent either team has faced all year". ok, that's out of the way. alabama has only faced 2 really good defenses this year. LSU and mississippi st, in back-to-back games. and the tide scored 29 and 24 in those games, easily their lowest outputs of the year. and while georgia's defense is certainly not as good as mississippi st, they are better than lsu. so there's a chance georgia can slow down the alabama offense. on the other side of the ball, georgia has scored the 2nd most points in the sec. they have a very balanced offense. and alabama's run defense is not as good as usual. teams just haven't been able to exploit that because they're usually down 3 tds by the second quarter. but georgia has a great ground game. and if you load the box, obviously fromm is good enough to make you pay. georgia also has a decisive edge in the kicking game with rodrigo blankenship. alabama counters with the freshman bulovas, who has missed 5 extra points this year (including two against the citadel!) if there are any pressure kicks in this game, that's a big advantage to the bulldogs. and last, but not least, motivation. again, an edge to georgia. if they lose, they are out of the playoffs. not to mention they have a little revenge in mind for last year.

fresno/boise under (52) 4 units. this is a huge game if ucf loses today. they could fall far enough that the winner of this game goes to a new years six bowl game. i like both defenses to step up. should be similar to the 24-17 game these two played a few weeks ago.

whoops, almost forget this one. and i wouldn't be surprised if, at the end of the night, i wish i had forgotten it.

northwestern (+15.5) 4 units
northwestern (ML) 1 unit to win 5. ok, ohio state played one great game this year. and if they do it in back-to-back weeks, they will blow out the wildcats. but i'm counting on us seeing the buckeyes that got blown out by purdue and barely beat penn st, nebraska, and maryland. the games against purdue, penn st, and maryland were all on the road. northwestern was 5-0 SU away from home and they were the dog in 4 of those games. northwestern will obviously need a couple breaks to go their way, but they can win this game. especially if georgia beats alabama, because that will pretty much close the door on ohio state's hopes of getting into a playoff game.

*side note* hell of a start for the thundering herd. at least they held the hokies to a fg.
