Seton Hall -14.5 over St Peter...will post this now because it's a 12.00 noon game.Ahhh.I hate going against the peacocks today.I just think its a matchup problem for them.
The game has a lot of side stories to it.When Barrett was a senior at Rice HS a skinny soph by the name of Clark was his teammate sitting on the bench. Also Sweet was playing at Rice.On the flip side of that Toney-El was a teammate of Curry, Peters leading rebounder.
So you have some friends going at each other today.
Peter is 4-1 and coming off a Clark buzzer beater vs Yale the other nite in OT.Nicholls the super frosh came back down to earth and had only 13 pts.Watson another frosh is solid and Curry, Devonish and Hinnant can all score.
But peters problem is the bds.Clark is the 2nd best rebounder and he is 5'9.
They have beaten St francis,Loy Md and Yale. But Clark has dominated scoring 37 the other nite vs Yale.
Buy Hall brings in some greyhounds.Barrett at 5'10 will be all over his former HS teammate. And Barrett is one of the best pt gds in the country.I think Barrett can nuetralize clark.Lyr he held calrk to under 10 pts until the game was out of hand.Clark ended up with 23 but Hall won 97-80.
Hall has a group of 6'5,6'6's players in Sweet,Allen,Morris and Toney-el.All can score, shoot, slash and more importantly hit the bds. There are certain teams that peter can beat but this type of team with slashers that are quicker are a matchup problem.
Hall has good defensive rebounders and should be able to hit the off bds.All the above guys l avg 5 or 6 bds a game including 5'10 Barrett.
This game is being played in the meadowlands so its not really a home advantage for the Hall. There a lot of history to these 2 teams.St peter's always feels they are second class citizens.A lot of players were recruited by the Hall but never offered the scholarships. So that has to come into play.I had a player a few yrs back that went to St peter.
I'll never forget that nite.Peter lost by a few but my kid has 19 pts,12 bds,and 6 assits.Unfortunalty he was 3-9 from the FT line.Good coaching on my part.
Hall beat peter lyr by 18.The following yrs by 15,19,18,and 16.
I see the same thing this yr.Don't think they will blow them out.But by 15-18 pts.
Not a strong play.Clark could hit a fews 3's at the end.But guys like Sweet are so hard to matchup against because of there speed and size. And Barrett can get that fast break and transition game going.

Hall ..2 boxes..small play
I'm going to post this and come back since its an early game..

Rider-4.5 over Delaware
Hens are 5-1,4-0 on the road but 0-2 ats.Rider is 4-2 but 2-1 ats.
Del has beaten UMBC,LIU,American, and strggled with Loy-md the other nite.Rider hasn't beaten anyone to write home about either.
Del has a pair of 2 gds in Ames and Lunn that are solid. No big rebounders but good team bds. They lost their top scorer and rebounder lyr.Repacing them will take time.meanwhile Rider who didn't lose much and beat Del at there place by 10 has jerry Johnson a stud pt gd.They did beat Iona by 23 already.Johnson dictates the game.Muniz is a 6'7 scorer and 7'0 Castleburry is solid at the post.Young and taylor can stick the 3's.Minyem is a 6'9 kid that gets better and better.Periera is a 6'6 juco kid that can score. And Johnson another 6'6 kid.
This team is not bad at all and will make noise in the MAAC.
I think they handle the Blue hens today and win this by 10 pts or more.

Rutgers -8 over Princeton
Don't think this is a popular pick.Wallace will win the Ivy Pl Yr Award.he is on fire and 8th in the nation in scoring. And the 6'8 kid can stick the 3's.Wyosocki,Venable,Persia,etc and all solid players.
But RU is playing at the RAC.Walters kids play defense. They contest all shots. And will be patient vs the Tiger motion.Shields,Webb,Douby are all quicker.Lamizana is probaly the best player in the country that no one has heard about except in the BE.He does everything but shoot Ft's.
RU is 4-0 ats and I think they can score vs the Tiger defense.RU is much quicker and more athletic.

Niagara -9.5 over Buffalo
This game has been historically close.Lyr Buffalo upset the Purple by 10.The yr's before Niagara won by 1,4 and 2.So now the line is almost double digits. They have both played Youngtown comparing score Bulls won by more.Canisius was about the same.
I think that Niagara playing at home has one of the most talented teams in yrs. They have the best coach in the MAAC.The best frontline in Reaves and Mendez. Dearden is a big gd at 6'4 and Cruz and excellant pt gd.Brooks has been on fire and is the leading scorer. They all hit the bds with 3 guys avg 8 bds a piece..
Bulls have awoken and are playing some good b-ball.But are a terrible away team.Battle is solid and can score. They have some "aircraft carriers" in Idbihi and Bortz but there not scorers. And both are avg only 3 or 4 bds a game.Bird can stick the 3,and Middletown hasn't found his shot yet.
But they are a terrible shooting FT team, playing only down the road.Lyr they were 0-15 str up and 3-11 ats on the road.
Still don't think Niagara has put together its "A" game yet.But revenge from lyr upset by 11 reverses this.

Playing the following..
Toledo +6 over Detroit
SW Mizzou +1.5 over Wichita...strong play.....
Marquette +9 over Zona
TCU -11.5 over North texas....going to get back my 16 boxes back
Wisky-Mil +13.5 over Wisky..breaking a cardinal sin going against 'Bo".
Richmond,Miss St and the New Orleans Saints -7 over my Giants.

Rider...7 boxes
Sw Mizzou...5 boxes
Rutgers,Niagara..4 boxes
TCU....one box...I'm going to get all 16 boxes back, one by one
Marq,Toledo, 2 boxes
the rest one box
will come back later and explain a few .

Hey Box,

There are few handicappers i respect more than you in this forum, but i disagree on SMS, live aboout 45 minutes from Springfield and follow this team closely, and Hinson does not have this team playing well right now, maybe later in the season, I look for Witchita St. to win outright today, maybe my strongest play hate going against the bears at Hammons Center but even the crowd seems to be waiting for something to happen, the bears lost a lot when Mcgee graduated and that void has not been filled yet. Oh well one of us will win.

Good luck with your picks,
ll

Wow did we get screwed with Rider. I don't know if you guys were listening to it. But they were up six with 5 ticks left on the clock and Delaware hit a three at the buzzer. They hit a three on the posession before that too. damn

Rider just won by 3 to Delaware so I lost the cover by 1.
tonite..
North Texas +11.5 over TCU...Both teams are bad.But NT has a 6'9 kid name Shawson Johnson, a transfer from LSU and a juco player. He cannot play until the 2nd semester. Now he has some game.Inside the paint he makes North Texas much better.
Well yest he has been told he can play tonite since NT posted his last semesters grades.
So tonite he makes his debut.I've know about him but can't understand why the NCAA is allowing him to play.
Anyway I'll grab the +11.5 for 2 small boxes and take my alma mater to keep it close. If he's a good as they say he'll make a big difference on the mean green..

Also playing San Fran -8.5 over Ohio and Weber St +8 over Nevada...2 boxes....
and Naw alins -7 over the Giants tomr in football
