I've been following the Senior Bowl practices closely in Mobile this week and was waiting for who the oddsmakers would favor for this game.

:0corn

The game is being played in Mobile and the oddsmakers have installed the South as a 3 point favorite. :142smilie but they once again have the wrong team as the chalk. :yup

Two years ago in the 2006 Senior Bowl they had the South favored by 1 and I posted that the wrong team was favored for that game too!

The North pounded the South that day and won outright!

Small (1 unit) Play on:
Senior Bowl
North Team +3 OUTRIGHT
over the South

The South lost 2 of it's better WR's this week Limas Sweed and Early Doucet to injuries and have 3 QB's trying to learn Mike Martz's offense in just a week...all three have struggled this week with the three being Colt Brennen, Eric Ainge and Andre Woodson...on the flip side...the North's 3 QB's Chad Henne, John David Booty and Joe Flacco have all been impressive in this weeks drills...yes they are coached by the Raiders coaching staff :scared , but the South is coached by the Niners staff with Mike Martz pushing his QB's to change their drops and rythm etc to adapt to his offense...in just one week...the only thing that the South is better roster wise is their DB's with 2 being potential first round picks in the upcoming Draft...the North has 9 USC players on their roster including DT Sedric Ellis a sure-fire top 10 pick...The North wins this one again Outright!
North 24 South 17

I'm still waiting for this weeks events to take place before I make my play for the Super Bowl, because you never know what the boys will be doing in Arizona this week besides practicing :scared

Eugene Robinson and his decision to pick up a mistress the day before the Super Bowl :scared still sticks in my mind :yup up to then I was leaning toward the Birds and the points, but was all over the Broncos that morning after finding out that news.

The North dominated the entire game and scored a TD at the end of th first half but the referees blew the call and reversed it  plus Lane Kiffin had a chance to salt it away by kicking a FG with a little over 2:00 minutes left up 16-10 and facing a 4th and 1 at the South's 16...he decided to go for it :scared and the South stopped them in their tracks on the 4th down play...the South went on to drive down the field and score the winning TD on the last play of the game on 4th and goal on a reverse to Fla Wr Andre Caldwell...the South Wins 17-16...But...
The North still covers with the +3

CASH!!

Thanks for the pick, FnG, it worked out well. :)

BUT YES...that idiot Kiffin made a horrible in-game call which is beyond me, or maybe I am missing something obvious. But on first blush, maybe this is why Al Davis wants him to resign from the Raiders? Jeez...that was a bad bad decision!

Kiffin reportedly listened to one of his offensive linemen who convinced him to go for the short yard.:nono:

You kick the FG and the game is over! Plain and simple!!!

Wasn't it Herm Edwards that once said "You Play to Win the Game!" :yup

nice job

who was the outstanding players ?

any big names play well ?

DT Sedric Ellis (USC) had a terrific week of practice and played well in the game. He recorded a sack for a safety in the second qtr on QB Andre Woodson of Kentucky which turned out to be the difference in covering the spread.

Other big name players that played well in the game were:

QB Chad Henne (Michigan) 2 TD passes
LB Dan Connor (Penn State) 1 INT
WR Andre Caldwell (Florida) Scored winning TD

And a sleeper from a small school:

CB Dominique Rogers-Cromartie (Tennessee St)
Played a great game and recorded one INT.
