Reason Falcons Won, it was their GOY

Steelers did not come to play at all, and no way would they throw a game with the Playoffs on the Line..

I don't think they are fixed, no way. Too many variables to get the fix right anyway. But to answer your question the one in question would be Pat's vs Jets when the Pat's won coin toss in OT and dude says we'll kick, Unreal you have the best QB in Brady and you defer, stop!x14:x15:

i never say much at all here.

but i get so tired of these......these games are fixed posts....

do people really believe this??

if so, can some "fix believer" out there please post

an intelligent reasonable believable way that

these games are fixed...

i want to hear exactly how this fix is done.

if not then just stop it already, its stupid.

yeah, we've heard of tim whatever his name is the nba ref.
umm, some college hoops years ago...
the black sox 100 years ago.....

but to think the nfl or any other major sport that produces billions of dollars in revenue
would risk fixing games is total insanity....first off, for what reason?
2nd off, the entire league from owners players refs commissioners would have to be in on the fix or scripted season.
just like pro-wrestling operates.

do you really think this happens?
and if it is fixed, please tell me why does the nfl need to fix games? for what benefit?

do you think vegas calls the nfl and says hey we've got 50 million on n.e.-3 today and only 20 million on the jets, hey do you think you can help us out and make sure that the jets cover.
i mean wtf

thanks

the difference is, any somewhat intelligent person

KNOWS that pro wrestling is scripted.

any somewhat intelligent person

KNOWS that major sports are NOT scripted.

yes, there is a small percentage of people that believe wrestling is not scripted
like my grandfather.

and so yes, i see that there must also be a small percentage of people
that believe sports is fixed.

for what you saying to be true, that sports are like pro-wrestling.
then each yr. each team/ player/coach/refs would be given their script
which would be thousands of people in on this.....
and yet, of all those thousands of people in on it over the last 100 years
has never spilled the beans?
not one time?
some disgruntled player or coach.....could make millions writing a book
with all the details....hasnt happened yet.

come on man,
makes no sense.

I think its ridiculous to NOT think there is a chance some of these games are fixed......not from a " hey these games are scripted" but from rouge individuals (players or more likely refs) to a wink wink nod nod from leauge officials to the refs on what would be the preferred outcome (leading to some head scratching calls).

Hell.....there is plenty of recent events (mostly on the college level) where players, refs (even nba) and conf commissioners arw trying to influence outcomes........believing any one individual nfl game could be fixed sounds pretty plausible.

Hell....the nfl would like you to believe gambling doesnt exist has no bearing on their game and people gey fired if they mention anything about gambling. ...when in fact the league popularity is partly because if gambling and was built on gambling (and franchises were inherited to pay off gambling debts )

my question is why?
for what reason?
who is benefitting from a fixed game? the mob?
the league? television?
some rouge ref. is fixing an nfl game to pay off his gambling debt
or to make few hundred thousand on a game?

how bout this for a reasonable explanation....

we are all human beings and we aren't perfect

refs. and review booth guys make mistakes

just like we all do at our jobs.

i like to think I'm pretty good at what i do but, i
make mistakes sometimes and I've been doing the
same thing for 35 yrs.

You sound like the arrogant nfl

So

Baseball, soccer, nba, college football, college basketball.....all are susceptible to games being fixed but NOT the nfl?

Didnt alex karros and paul hourning get busted for betting on games while in the nfl???? Why is it so hard to think somebody on some level is trying to influence the outcome of an nfl game today???

i never isolated my opinion to just nfl games.....i said all major sports are not scripted or fixed.....

take the end of the duke/indiana game yesterday......i had ind.

was the fg in overtime good or not?
it was close either way....

but those who bet indiana could say that game was fixed
fg was good, refs. had money on duke....
when in reality, maybe the ref. just made a bad call.

I don`t think it`s institutionally(say at the nfl or ncaa bureaucratic level) fixed or scripted either...but given the nature and scope of sports gambling to say that sports gambling is somehow definitively pristine is a bit na?ve....

95 billion a year wagered on college and pro football alone...that`s billion with a "b"....

Thanks for the classy post, Steel City! You are absolutely right that it makes no sense to believe in this fantasy of games being fixed.

It is just mindless laziness for the most part, a lazy answer to why some things happen.

If someone wants to say this, fine, but the burden of proof is on them.

Certainly games could be fixed at any level, but if they were, it would be difficult to tell. It would be some crappy play by one or two guys or a random flag from an official. It wouldn't be some mass theater where some screwy result happens that would involve about 25 different people participating to make it happen. And if 25 people were involved in a fix, they certainly wouldn't wait til the last 30-60 seconds of the game to make it happen. To determine that because a bunch of underdogs covered numbers in the NFL that it is fixed implies that the converse, i.e. all those favorites covering (or winning) was a mortal lock and could only not happen if there was a fix.

Crying "fix" because you got your rear kicked is just lazy thought processes at work.

Remember, fixing games results in JAIL TIME, so if you are going to do it, you better do it right, and that means it has to be very covert. It should not be exciting or news worthy. Sports fixes are typically exposed by people ratting out the perpetrators not by someone watching the game detecting the fix and then sniffing it out.

Roller Derby and Pro Wrestling are the only true sports left out there. You can't bet on them because the athletes are beyond approach. Vegas can't fix them so you can't bet on them plain and simple!

Seriously, to think these games are not fixed to a certain extent is crazy. Maybe not games but quarters. It would be too easy to show fixed games but quarters? I dunno, that would take a lot of work.

Lets just say a lot good teams decided not to show up yesterday. And I thought that Breese had a torn thing in his foot but he comes out like he is ready for Dancing With The Stars! Unreal.

I guess the best thing is not to read anything anymore. Because more times than not the opposite comes true. Baltimore beats Pittsburgh. Atlanta Beats Carolina, Cleveland almost beats KC. Green Bay looks like the worst POS team there is.

And it all comes down to the final jam! I mean possesion.

This season has been straight up square fest and a few unexpected (by popular opinion) results come in and now the games are fixed!

Remember - jail time. You think the whole NFL is risking jail time? Owners, commissioners, players? Right, they don't have enough money.
