Scotch recommendations.....

looking to give out a few of bottles as gifts, any recommendations would be great.....someone suggested Macallans.....looking to spend around $200/bottle....don't know if that is too high or low for a good bottle/brand...

It's all a matter of taste. You can get a good Single Malt for $50, so $200 isn't necessarily necessary. I like Macallan myself. Rule of thumb the higher the age, the higher the price. However, I prefer a Macallan 12 to a 14, I think the 14 is a little too oaky. This is where taste comes in, and it's tough to put a finger on it. Oban is a very good scotch, for a relatively low price. Glenfiddich is one of my favorites also...

Macallan 18 year old is nice. It is a 90+ rated scotch and you will find it in any collection. As would you find Bowmore 17 and/or Highland Park 12 or 17.

Thanks guys, the $200 was just a figure I allotted t for each gift, if it's not necessary thats great...thanks again for the recommendations.

whats the difference between single, blended and vetted? or is all scotch single malt?

not all scotch is single malt. single malt does typically represent the better quality. glen morangie. oban.


there are blends such as dewar's, jonnie walker, etc. that are liked by some and scorned by others.



some blended scotch such as chivas regal is better than most blends and not real expensive. glen salen is recommended blend. distributed by robilio.
