When USC beats a team, that team is OVER-RATED or they SUCK!

When a conf. team plays USC tough (down to wire), it means USC is OVER-RATED or USC SUCKS!

USC blows out Arkansas @ARK, no big deal. "Arky sucks, middle of the pack SEC team"

USC dominated Nebraska at home, "Nebraska sucks, they are over-rated"

(funny both teams are tops in their BCS conference and USC beat both soundly)

USC struggles @AZ, @Washington St., and vs Washington. Those teams SUCK and it just shows how OVER-RATED USC is.

But being as things are this goes down as A-OK in his book, then he tries to justifing by throwing in the made up NC game stuff, to make it ok in his brain that Texas beat his Trojans. :142smilie

:nono:

Not made up. Whether you like it or not, IT HAPPENED! The refs screwed USC twice in the game and the NCAA publicly apologized to USC and admitted the refs made 2 errors. Sorry it bothers you but the truth hurts sometimes and Texas benefited greatly with those 2 ref errors (and multiple USC mistakes). You need all the help you can get to upset USC, and a super star player (young) helps too! ;)

WRONG WRONG WRONG. You obviously have not handicapped the game. All ASU can do is run the ball. Ask any ASU fan, Carpenter hasn't thrown the ball over 20 yds all season. We run the ball on 3rd and 10 for cripes sake. I'm getting sick and tired of people saying this, proves that people go off stereotypes as opposed to whats actually going on

I STAND CORRECTED! (good post)

Although I think ASU D will have tough time stopping USC O (duh) and I doubt ASU O will play conservative when USC gets up on them (ie Nebraska). I still think ASU will try and force the ball down field and it won't work. I will be surprised if ASU stays with the running game.

If trailing a team by double digits in the 4th quarter and then beating that team by 3pts off a 4th down play in the last 2 min. is your definition of whooping someones A$$, then YES I REMEMBER! :mj07:

Best BCS conference: SEC. No conference plays tougher defense. Florida, Auburn and LSU all rank among the nation's top six teams in scoring defense. Georgia actually ranked first in that category before getting smoked 51-33 by Tennessee last weekend.

one point i would like to make about asu defense...
they only gave up 28 to cal... rudy c threw a few pick 6's and a punt return for td.. oregon's offense was on the field all day in 100 degree heat because of how bad asu's offense is.

ASU defense is actually pretty good against typical offenses, they struggle against teams with a mobile qb (oregong) and the spread formation (ore, cal) in between the tackles asu has been excellent so far, albeit against nev, colo, nau

still think sc covers at halftime

and irk's job isn't on the line.. he is guarenteed 900k a year for the next 3 years, asu cant afford a buyout on top of hiring someone decent, although i hope every morning when i wake up i read the headline:
asu fires koetter

bgold-

Northwestern ran the spread against us in 2003 and 2004 and we smoked them (nothing special, but still)

We just dont have the speed on defense like we had in years prior. Look at the yards per play in the Cal game..7.5 per play. That means that Cal probably would have rung 42 on them if they didnt have the pick 6's and punt return.

I wouldn't put it pass Lisa Love to fire Koetter...money is an issue but if this team loses out (possible, then can lose to Stanford no doubt) then Love I dont think will hesitate. There will be 15K at the games if ASU gets killed against SC.

I am hoping for Dave McGinnis, Steve Mariucci, Kiffin or Mariucci, all of which are probably pipe dreams. Hell, I would even take old timers Bill Snyder and Mike Price to get the program back.

Dirk is a great offensive mind and probably one of the best offensive scheme guru's in the country. However, he doesn't recruit, motivate or know defense. Just a small part - LOL

I guess you only watched the last 2 min. because USC was screwed out of 3 huge penalties.

Once the ref puts the ball down, clock is suppose to start. It didn't. That helped Washington. Washington was lame in not being prepared for that situation. They had all the time in the world. The offense needed to already be set and snap right away. They were not prepared. Stanback failed to have the offense ready and they didn't get their last shot at the endzone.

This is one of my favorites and one that ESPN also tried to pull on the public. Washington was set and ready to spike the ball the first time the refs were going to spot the ball, then the refs had a conference, Willingham called over Stanbeck, Stanback went out and they were set again and still no ball, then Stanback starts talking to his line and the ref puts the ball down and winds the clock. I would like to have been in that huddle of the refs. "Should we put 6 seconds back on the clock" "No, I got an idea, lets act like we are talking then when they arent ready set it and wind the clock" PC will love that. I dont think that happened, but it sure did look like it. I hope Washington enjoys there opps we are sorry we messed up as much as Scooter enjoys his for the NC game. I love this guy. He is like the National Inquire no matter how stupid it is I have to read it.

My take on Carpenter is that he has had a couple of bad games and has made some bad decisions trying to win games himself.

Carpenter has only had 1 good game, Nevada at home. Every other game he has looked like garbage. He makes stupid mistake after stupid mistake, is extremely innaccurate, and fumbles on top of all that. Even the throws he's completing are off target and the WR's are having to make tough catches. Word is he went home to California this week to "get his head back."

Last year they were just happy he could get the ball there, this year they expect him to have 5 tds a game. And who does he have to throw too? No Hagan this year(even though last year he was a liability in this game).

Of course we expect him to throw 5 TD's a game. Every QB that plays in our system should be successful, if not they should be benched. Carpenter threatned to transfer after Koetter named Keller starter which led to Koetters reversal in decision. So yes, Carpenter better play good, especially at Kellers expense. This isn't Carpenters fault but he knew what he was getting into. He still has Burgess, Richardson, and the best TE in the country (Zach Miller) to throw to so he needs to figure it out. The loss of Hagan hurts but receivers are getting open.

The bye week was the best thing that could happen to ASU. Koetter is an awsome offensive mind, and knows how to coach QB's. Just look at the #'s on any of them last year, including carpenter. Your giving a guy who is regarded by media and coaches as one of th best off minds in college football and who knows his job iis on the line 2 weeks to prepare for a banged up inexperienced SC team that has already been exposed in many aspects of the game. AND your giving them 19 points along with it.

As I've said hundreds of times, Koetter is the worst leader in college football. The bye week does us no good but whatsoever. Koetter is known for bashing his team into the ground when they play the way they have. SImply go back throughout the last 5 seasons and look at the results. It's an exact cycle everytime this happens. We don't even throw the ball on 3rd down anymore, what does that tell you?

I'm not sure if you've watched any ASU games this year, so if not please take my advice before you bet ASU. Either bet USC or don't bet the game at all. Every ASU fan will tell you the same thing

blgstocks - How can you ignore scooter, the guys "arguments" are good for at least two to three laughs.

I just cant take him hedman, if his post were just short and ignorant like a few guys on here I would read em and laugh at how stupid and maybe try to throw some fuel on the fire. But Scott takes so much time to read his long posts that are just filled with slanted nonsense and usually have almost nothign to do with handicapping, so I finaly ignored him. And it feels great.

i have seen every game ASU has played this year except at NAU and i listened to that one. I follow the devils pretty closely as well, even though i wouldnt consider myself a ASU fan.

I appreciate your advice and definitely read what you have to say aboutthe devils, but one fan saying they hate their coach and he is going to bury them does not make a huge difference to me. It would surprise me if USC absolutely clobbers ASU, even though it is a possibility from years past. Carpenter can be a great quaterback, he has done it before I believe that he can do it again.

Would you bet on Chuck Knobaluch throwing to first base a few years ago?

That is what betting ASU is, betting the Rudy Carpenter gets his head back...not a bet I would like to make.

Not to mention even if Rudy does get it back, our defense couldn't stop USC, that is the university of southern Cuba

Dirk Koetter and his teams-

0-11 vs PAC-10 opponents IN THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA.

2-17 vs ranked opponents

Thats not "one fan hating the coach." These are facts that support the notion that Dirk Koetter can not get his team ready for big games. In fact, I don't believe I've said anywhere that he should be fired. I've only stated the obvious- he's a horrible leader and has never been able to right a sinking ship. Every PAC game we play in the state of California gets out of hand FAST. Every single one.

Some Koetter quotes in todays Arizona Republic:

ASU coach Dirk Koetter said, explaining Ware's unexpected sack total. "It got publicity and teams aren't stupid. These other teams watch film too. Cal max protected a lot of the game. We tried to get to them, which put us in man coverage. When you don't get there and you're in man and can't cover their receivers, big plays result, and that's what happened.

"Oregon has a different style of offense with the spread. We tried to get to (QB Dennis) Dixon and couldn't because he was in the shotgun. They were audibling to their quick screens every time they saw Derron up on the line. That was smart by them."

- Ware is our LB who started on fire but has done nothing the last 3 games. Pretty good quote there by Dirk...... He basically said that his DB's are garbage, a good way to prep them for a track team known as USC. What an ass

As for the Oregon quote, why wouldn't he expect that to happen? Koetter is a horrendous defensive coach, he can't gameplan to save his life. He has no concept how to adjust to the game as it plays out. He sticks with one plan, which always fails, and we lose by 30+ points against good teams nearly every time

I hope you didnt take offense to that "one fan hates a coach comment devilfan, i was basically talking about any fans that are down on coaches because they have been losing are pretty biased, and you definitely have the stats to back it up, I have been calling for koetter to move over to Off cord. for 3 years now! So im wel aware of his shortcomings.
I am very uneasy about marra and u being against them as you know this team well, but I have had this play circled for awhile. I have been glad that ASU has been struggling to keep the line real high, but USC has been struggling as well, but as the line is still 3 scores, im playing it, GL with your plays guys see you next week. If it helps, if SC covers, every point over the cover I am going to punch an SC fan in the face at the game!
