but i had to notice all of geragos` high profile clients that scott mentioned in his post.....and unless i`m misreading or misinformed,his success rate isn`t exactly stunning.....

"So he pleads indigent and is represented by a public attorney. I guarantee you in the coming months he will end up with a top flight US criminal attorney. Some bigtime lawyer will want to be in this spotlight. No way a public attorney will get this case alone.
Peterson is too smart for that. Besides that he may save some money in the long run. I am sure that is what he is thinking. "

MODESTO, Calif. - A prominent Los Angeles lawyer who has represented celebrities and served as a television commentator in coverage of Laci Peterson's murder said Friday he will defend her accused husband.

Mark Geragos said he had been hired by Scott Peterson's family. He will replace two public defenders assigned to Peterson during arraignment April 21, when Peterson said he couldn't afford a lawyer.

The lawyer said he plans to review 30,000 pages of police reports by a May 19 pretrial hearing and said he would probably seek bail for Peterson, who has been held in a solitary jail cell since his arrest April 18.

Geragos has handled high-profile cases in the past. Most recently, he represented Hollywood actress Winona Ryder on shoplifting charges. He also defended Susan McDougal, the former partner in the Arkansas Whitewater land deal with President Clinton and Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Last year, he represented former Rep. Gary Condit after he was romantically linked to Washington, D.C., intern Chandra Levy, who grew up in Modesto and disappeared in Washington in May 2001. He also represented Robert Downey, Jr., on drug charges.
Geragos has been a fixture on cable TV shows since Laci Peterson vanished, venturing far enough to say that police had enough to arrest Peterson and saying that he needed a good lawyer.
The case could bring the death penalty because it involves two murders.
During a short hearing Friday, Geragos said he would waive a bail hearing that had been scheduled for Tuesday.
Judge Aldo Girolami also granted his request that Peterson not have to appear in court in a red jail jump suit, bound in handcuffs, shackles and waist chains ? an image that has appeared on television and in tabloid newspapers.

"Poster-sized pictures of him labeled as a monster is not conducive to a fair trial," Geragos said.

Scott is doing well and looking forward to proving his innocence," Geragos. "And Scott looks forward to finding out who did this to Laci and his unborn child."

I wish I had placed a wager on this and cashed in on this sorry state of affairs.

Loopholes if your out there you may be alone still trying to defend this monster.

I can just see the poster size picture marine will be wearing when the guilty verdict is read in open court. Remember marine...The sign should read ...King of Dogs is my daddy.

I think all the clients that were mentioned were given lenient treatment or found not guilty.

rider`s career is a shambles.....she should have never gone to trial and had this thing play out in the media.....

condit`s political career is over,even though it appears he did nothing criminal....his situation was as badly handled as scott peterson`s...

i believe mcdougal did hard time....and downey`s life is a shambles and he did time also.....

peterson needs a johnny cochran or a barry scheck(or anybody that can rap or rhyme)....gerraqos doesn`t impress me at all....all those talk shows have helped his public image as a defense attorney....but,i`m not sure he`s "all that".

I can't Scott. Recently, I have been retained by Sadaam Hussein and his son Udo and have been busy preparing their defense for the anticipated upcoming war crimes trials. Been spending a lot of hours researching my innovative defense strategy of "brown rage".

Alan Derchowitz will co-chair the defense with yours truly. I have retained an expert in this field who I believe will cause the jury to return not guilty verdicts for both Messers. Hussein. This expert is Dr. Jorge Bliss, a reknowned chiropractor from northern Kentucky who studied at Al's Chiropractic College in Paducah, Kentucky. Although Dr. Bliss is just starting his practice, he has extensive knowledge in the field of radical middle eastern politics and dictatorships.

No Daubert challenge here. Dr. Bliss (age 19) qualifications as a middle eastern expert include the fact that he once walked on a persian rug. By the way, my key witnesses are the former Iraqi Minister of Information and Kato Kailen.

Could I just ask you to state a opinion of any kind on the
Scott Peterson case ? Just any thoughts about guilt or a potential defense motion ?

I tried to talk to loopholes about this but he gets frustrated with my law abilities and is jealous of my pending Supreme court
appointment. By the way how are you coming on that ?

Did you get the Ben Franklins I sent you ? Please use it on a retainer for now as there are several people now in madjacks I will need you to lawsuit their asses for me.

I am just thankful that you finally responded in some way. I thought maybe something bad had happened to you.
