I believe that Seattle will be up for this game big time. To be swept with their ace on the mound would be a HUGE lift for the A's. Seattle NEEDS this game I think.
Garcia has been absolutely outstanding lately and probably is the hottest pitcher in baseball.
A's are the hottest team in baseball with Mulder -- who probably is their second best starter right now -- on the hill.
This game should be well-played and low scoring.
I have the OU at 8 and the Mariners as slight dogs.
I see it as great value to take them with Garcia on the hill.
Think about it:
1. Hottest pitcher in basball on the mound
2. Team approaching baseball's all time win totals
3. Team trying not to be swept -- need especially to play well to avoid giving psych. edge
Downside: A's are hottest team in baseball at home.
I see this a superb play.
Two ways to play this one for value purposes:
1. Parlay Seattle and the Under
Need Garcia to pitch well and offense to score a couple runs -- looks like this should happen nearly half the time.
2. Play Seattle -- Garcia pitches well and or offense breaks out against Mulder
Also play the Under -- should cover your ass in case Mulder throws a solid game -- which is way more probably in that he throws a bad one IMP -- in which case the A's would almost surely lose -- so that you come out even here.
The obvious key to this play is Garcia....will he keep it up? I think so. He has been amazing.
I am playing the under and the Mariners separately. Not playing the parlay. However, I see a correlation between the under and the Mariners as well so I think that is a good play too.
Pinella I think will pull out the stops to win this one -- don't see OAK scoring more than 3. This tells me that Seattle and the Under separately should be the play.
