DALLAS MAVERICKS -7 OVER SEATTLE SUPERSONICS
Finally, NBA basketball comes to the National Basketball Association. Or, in the case of the Mavs, the International Basketball Associaton, as their starting lineup tonight represents players from the U.S., Canada, Germany, Mexico, and whatever planet Shawn Bradley is from.
Is this the night the winning streak comes to an end? Can the Mavs cover 7 while Gary Payton and his Sonics play their little hearts out to be the team that ends it?
Let's see: The trend favors the Mavs. The Mavs have the stronger inside offensive game. The Mavs have the better outside offensive game. The Mavs have the better defense. The Mavs, by far, have the better bench even without LaFrentz or Van Exel. The Mavs have the home court advantage with a sell-out crowd. The Mavs speak more languages.
These high profile games never seem to live up to the hype...Kinda like all the one-sided Superbowls. I think the Mavs will probably have their streak ended on the road to some spare team they don't take seriously enough. They should be pumped tonight and cover easily. Trying to bet against this momentum because a team is "due" for a loss is like trying to sell short a stock because "it can't go up much more." Disaster.
Anything can happen, as we saw last night with Denver-LAC, but for moi, I gotta go with my beloved Mavericks.
