At the bar
I would say mizzou is worth mentioning in the middle level of big 12 teams

I think VT can hang with anybody in the country with their defense. But I do agree that the ACC as a whole might be the worst of the bcs conferences.

I think 6 is alot to ask from the SEC personally.
I have OSU beating Bama
SC beating Houston #1
Clemson Tar and feathering Kentucky
Auburn beating Nebraska #2
Ark beating Wisky#3
Penn St beating Tenn
LSU kicking the crap out of ND #4
OSU beating Fla
And Finally VT beating Georgia

So I cant take the bet, but I definitely think that any SEC fan on this site that truly believes they are the superior conference by any margin it should be easy to take the bet.

I agree with all of your predictions except for the Georgia/VTech game. I think it could go either way. Clemson will be my bowl game of the year. Kentucky gets slaughtered. UT will probably lose to Joe Pa like they always do. Definitely like the 4 points in that one.

I saved VT for last because I really cant call that game either way, I feel like I know VT as good as anyone on this site and even though I think they are the better team, I can easily see a couple scenarios where Gerogia gets the win. I think it will be a very close low scoring game though.

I'll take that hat bet to the bank! Just call me the Mad Hatter!:mj07:
Like these to win:
1.LSU-The Ragin Cajuns will have the Irish begging to get back to South Bend
2.My Auburn Tigers-Two similar teams, AU has the edge
3.Florida Gators-IMO they match up well and will pull out a close one.
4.Spurrier- He won't lose to Houston
5.Bulldogs-Will be clicking verse the Hokies!
6.UT- Fat Fulmer whoops Joe Pa's assistants asses
7.Arkansas- Wisky will be embarrassed after this game.

Bama and the Wildcats Lose.

I know I am a homer yet I'll take this bet all day long.

dice....

there's no problem with disagreeing with what i posted...it was meant to start a debate.

of course i agree that bama is not an elite team, it was an error on my part. that's what happens when you try to do too many things at one time.

we knew coming into this season that it would be a bown year for bama, but,i would rank iowa as one of the biggest disappointments in college football this year.

absolutely agree with that.....it could be debated if iowa and bama should even be in bowls, with their in-conference records (2-6)...Iowa was a huge disappointment this season

Conference rankings including my top 15 teams:

1 SEC--5 top 15 teams LSU, FLA, AUB, TENN, ARK
2 Big Ten--3 top 15 teams Mich,OSU, Wisky
3a Pac-10--1 Top 15 team SC
3b Big East--3 top 15 teams L'ville, Rutgers
5 Big XII--2 Top 15 team Okie, TX
6 ACC-- 1 Top 15 team VT

As for this wager, I took w/o even thinking a/b it. Upon further reflection, I like my chances. Sure, 67% is tough to pull off with 9 teams, but SEC pulled a 5-2 bowl season a couple of years ago.

I like my chances w/ Tenn, Aub, and LSU. I am concerned a/b Arky's possible lack of motivation, but feel Hogs can get it done. A loss for Arky would make this a 4 loss season so hopefully Nutt will have them ready. I like SC to handle Hou w/ time to prep for gimmicky offense. SC will run over Hou.

I don't like my chances with Kentucky, but at least I should have a motivational edge.

I figure I'll need 2 of 3 from this group to win:

Bama v. OK St --- I haven't looked much into this matchup, but think Bama will have problems scoring w/ Okie St

UGA v. VT ---- I feel Richt can easily win this low scoring affair. Watch how well UGA runs the ball vs. Hokies ;)

Fla v. Ohio St ---- As for quality opponents, Ohio St has only played Mich and Texas. Mich scored a ton on them at home, while Texas game was early this season with McCoy making only his 2nd start. Mich has only played ND, Wisc and Ohio St. Wisk has played only Mich.

Fla RB, WR and OL will be healthy. I will play Florida +8, and would not be surprised w/ an outright W.

Following up on AR's posts.....

I am going to leave the Big East and ACC out of this, because IMO they are the #5 and #6 BCS conferences this year. Now, take the top 5 teams from each of the remaining BCS conferences and rank them 1 to 20. I'm not talking about records, or SOS, or computer rankings. I'm saying today, who do you think is the strongest team on a neutral field, with a couple weeks to prepare. in other words, a bowl or playoff situation. Interested to see how others rank them:

Mine:

1) OSU (B10 #1)
2) Michigan (B10 #2)
3) USC (PAC10 #1)
4) LSU (SEC #1)
5) Florida (SEC #2)
6) Texas (B12 #1)
7) OU (B12 #2)
8) Cal (PAC 10 #2)
9) Tennessee (SEC #3)
10) Wisky (B10 #3)
11) Nebraska (B12 #3)
12) Arkansas (SEC #4)
13) Oregon St (PAC10 #3)
14) Auburn (SEC #5)
15) Penn State (B10 #4)
16) UCLA (PAC10 #4)
17) Okie State (B12 #4)
18) A&M (B12 #5)
19) Purdue (B10 #5)
20) AZ State (PAC10 #5)

fwiw, I would have SEC #6 Georgia at #17 if we took 6 from the SEC and 4 from the Pac10.

"you need to get off the sec kick- the sec is simply overrated- thick skulled people you are though- by the way that is not a good thing- idiots"

You know what I have noticed is that there are a few boneheaded SEC homers on this site and about 4 times as many posters who are obsessed with the SEC being overrated. It really gets tiresome listening to people calling the SEC homers redneck idiots. Let it go. Reacting to idiots makes you an idiot.

3) USC (PAC10 #1)
4) LSU (SEC #1)
5) Florida (SEC #2)

USC loses to OkSt. and UCLA but they are still the 3rd best team in the country? Fla beats LSU and would have blown out Ark without the (2) dumbass turnovers early in the 2nd half while Ark gave LSU all they could handle. I have no idea why everyone thinks LSU is better than Fla. Whatever. Fla can prove what kind of team they are in the NC game.

I don't want to get into a debate on the Florida-Arky game, but Florida won that game on a blocked punt, a fake punt, and a fumbled punt in the end zone. That game was sloppy on both sides, and very competitive.

Based on the games I've watched, I think LSU beats Florida 8 out of 10 times on a neutral field. USC 8 out of 10. I'd say USC only beats LSU 6 or maybe 7 out of ten. Upsets can and will happen. IMO, unless its real lopsided, the outcome of one game doesn't necessarily mean that one team is better than another. It just means they were better that day.

CWood, how do you have Tenn in front of Ark?

31-14 was a nice win and I would say it should get them in front of Tenn since they did beat them.

No Ainge, @ Arky at night on ESPN. That was a really bad spot for Tenn following the tough loss to LSU. I'm not a big fan of what Arkansas can do. They certainly got hot for a while with their quirky schemes, but I really don't think they can defend balanced offenses or score much on a defense that has athletes and time to prep for them.

I agree...I'm not sold on ARKY either...hint hint...playing Wiscy...Razorbacks will have trouble with a team like Wisconsin...

I happen to be in the camp that the SEC isn't the strongest conference this year. I have truly enjoyed reading the great debates on this forum ......however, there isn't much to be gained for the capper by these demonstrations.

With that said, I do feel Florida should be playing in the NC game; however, I give them little chance to win........although I'm a big admirer of Coach Meyer, and feel they will be a force to reckon with in the future.

With that said, I would be willing to wager a (Cap of your choice; or mine if I win) if the SEC can win 66% of the bowl game straight up......

The wager calls for the SEC and all its glory to win 6 out of the 9 bowl games straight up (no point spreads).........If the SEC is truly the best conference I would think this should be very workable.....considering they are favored in 5 of those game, while 3 of the games are within a field goal! Shouldn't be a difficult task if the SEC is truly the best conference..........?

If you would like to make the wager.....simply tell me "your on" in this thread..............To share the fun.......anyone else that wants to back "All other conferences" will be matched up against the SEC backers. I will be good for 3 cap wagers.............Simply put........"Put your money where your mouth is"..........

I will take first 3 to reply......

Should be fun!:SIB

Stwoody, what a great idea and I think you are now at your 3 hat limit and I would love to get in on the action. I would be willing to back "all other conferences" against the SEC for a hat wager, and I'll even go one better I'll let 5 out of 9 be a push. I think that NU gets a win over Auburn. The teams match up well, and NU should have plenty of time to get healthy, and should put up some points against an overrated SEC defense. If you are ok with it stwoody, I'll take the next hat bet.

My only worry with Wisky is that their WR's won't be able to get open against the constant man press.
