Just another argument for the SEC being heads and shoulders above all others - the final AP Poll includes 5 SEC teams in the top 15, including #1 and #2 - here is the breakdown:

SEC - 5
Big 12 - 4
ACC - 2
Pac 10 - 1
Big 10 - 1
Big East - 1
MWC - 1

Does this clear it up a bit for you? Found this absurd post in another thread:

"No Doubt, the SEC has the best talent from top to bottom.

Over the course of an entire season, I believe Michigan would probably have the same record right now (9-4) if they had played in the SEC.

Florida since the start of 2000 is 2-4 against the Big 10 in bowl games.....guess they are overrated.

I would like to see what South Carolina, Mississippi, Miss St, Arkansas, Alabama, and Vanderbilt would do in the Big 10 when it's cold and raining or snowy.

If LSU loses the title game to OSU, the SEC will be 1-2 versus the Big Ten in this year's bowls.

I think the whole debate over the best conference is absurd. You will never be able to accurately determine the strongest conference--there are too many variables."

Funny how this post mentions 6 of the 7 SEC teams NOT in the final AP top 15 - and let me tell you, playing road games at Bama, Ark, and SC ARE NOT CAKEWALKS! And they will only get tougher as new HC's get their guys in. Also funny how this poster thinks UM would have finished with the same record if they played in the SEC, when they haven't beaten OSU in forever and the Buckeyes are routinely stomped by a host of SEC schools.

Get over it guys, the SEC is the best conference year in and year out, end of story. If Auburn wouldn't have gotten absolutely screwed a couple of years ago we would be talking about 4 SEC National Championships in an 8 year span.

Good luck - LA Burns

Throwing out the fluke loss to Appalacian State, I think Michigan would more than likely finish with about the same record if they played in the SEC. It would really rely on whether they got a "tough" schedule or "soft" in-conference schedule. Georgia was fortunate to not play LSU this year, so it made our schedule a little easier than it will be next.

Michigan would be the fourth or fifth best team in the conference this year. 9-4 is probably a pretty good guess for their record, IMO.

I do think the SEC is the best conference THIS year.

I will always look back at 2007 and recall that UGA and LSU did not play each other.....that game on October 6 radically changed the outlook of the season......just goes to show you that in college football, that every week is important and if you are not at your best week in, week out, you will fall short of the national title.

And, interesting point Dawgbell....i got crushed last night in the in-game even trying to defend Michigan (which actually I was not, and for the record the above quote from LABurns is not from me). But, my sentiment is that over time, UM would win as many division titles in the SEC as the other league powers do, which is one or two per senior class.....and conversely, UGA (or any other SEC power) would win as many Big 10 titles as OSU and UM do now, which is a lot as its either or virutally every year, if we could magically transport them into the Big 10.

The SEC is awesome these days. So fun to watch. Much better than the 1990s when it was a two-team show, although really one team show with Fla always beating Tenn. UGA emerging as a national threat, making the east a three team race, combined with LSU and Auburn finally becoming true national powers with Bama and Arky annually good has turned the West from mere afterthought in the 1990s into a power mini conference in its own right.

Ok, now that I have defended the big 10 just a little, let the piling on commence. :mj07: :0corn
