You don't know much about football or TV, do you? A lot of people wouldn't watch Ohio State play ND for all the marbles? Two of the biggest college football programs in history in a championship game equals huge ratings.

N Dame deserving.....Ohio St...NOOOTTT....:0corn

And everyone thought Bama would roll over Utah that one year too. Like I said, every game is different and anything can happen.

Totally agree man...Utah kicked the snot out of Bama....EVERY game is very different and if anyone thinks ND will get crushed they are sadly mistaken..That D will keep them in every game.

I understand that 12-0 in a BCS conference is cool and everything but running the table in the B1G this year shouldn't have warranted a BCS title game birth regardless of OSU being on probation or not. Bama would beat them by 30. if OSU wasn't on probation and got in the championship game a lot of people wouldn't even watch the game. it would be terrible. 11am ESPNU status.

I'm not normally one to be that guy that says "blah blah wouldn't watch that" because I love college football, but I would 100% play BlackOps2 before I watched OhioState - ND in a national championship game. Thank God for sleezy tattoo artists and dumb college kids

You are absolutely nuts my friend..ND-Ohio St would draw huge rating...One hell of a lot more than that snooze fest last year that i watched for about 10 minutes....Just because it wouldn't be SEC u say people wouldn't watch it??? Get over your conference please....

I know a lot about football and TV. Lots of people would not watch the game. Didn't say that it would be the lowest ratings for a NCG in history. But it would be pretty damn low Hypothetical and shit but it would easily be lower than any from the last decade.

Pool Player. You cry too much.

You and Hashish think because ND won a bunch of titles before a LOT of the college football audience was born (conservatively would say the average age of a CFB fan is 33ish), that them being a "big program" would get them huge ratings? That's just not true. As late as they start those games, the majority of the ND fanbase would be taking out their dentures and going to bed by halftime.

And we really don't even need to be talking about Ohio State drawing "huge ratings" that is just hilarious. Maybe if they didn't get their shit pushed in when they venture outside of the Big10 people would be more excited to watch them play. Was yesterday morning Michigan game their biggest game of the year? Didn't watch a single play. Would rather do yardwork than watch that game.

You gotta give me a better reason than ND and OSU winning championships before Al Gore invented the internet. Between the two of them they have 2 NCs since the mid-70s. Give me a break "Huge football programs"... ND's program is a dinosaur that is Weiss failed to make relevant again and Kelly is trying to succeed at. You don't have to click on 3 links on the internet to see that NOBODY respects ND. I know some people on here or other handicapping forums do, but that is a very small % of the national college football audience. Notre Dame being in a NCG absolutely 100% without a doubt does not help ratings. The only people that care to watch ND are their fans - who should be going to the game and not watching on TV.

OSU makes a better case for bringing a TV audience than ND. But as far as 2012 is concerned, every college football fan with any sense knows their schedule was terrible and they wouldn't have deserved to be in the NCG in the first place.

This is all hypothetical so nobody really wins in this kind of discussion, but I guarantee the NCG would have the lowest ratings of every BCS bowl game except whichever one the Big East champ plays in, but it would be close with those two. (orange bowl?).

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but yours could be more informed.

I cry to much?? I read your posts and your a fukking moron..Your opinion that ND-Ohio St wouldn't have good ratings means nothing..You know kinda like YOU..You mean nothing..Go outside and do your yard work while the rest of the country watches that game.....Those two schools whether you like it or not are in the top 5 of all time as far as college football goes and that's a fact...Why don't u go crawl up one of your SEC obnoxious buddies ass and settle in their for awhile.

Many on this forum have difficulty discerning fact from opinion. You are apparently one of them. Oh, and don't forget, breathe in deeply through the nose and out slowly through the mouth.

It's an article with quotes from ex-television executives and senior VPs from media companies. It's also Nielsen ratings from an actual nd-osu game. I've seen ignorance before but your form of active ignorance is on a whole different level.

Good luck with the coaching search :0074

TLankford, you may not be the most ignorant poster on this forum, but you are definitely in the top 10.

Who are the two most popular college football programs in the country? Let's look at a poll from a respected sporting news source.

http://espnmediazone.com/us/press-releases/2012/09/csusept-11/#b

The two most popular programs in the country would lead to the lowest-rated national championship game ever. Do you realize how stupid you sound when you say that?

I conceded this argument. Just don't think people would be excited at all to watch ND and OSU (and yes i know nobody gave a shit about LSU-Bama rematch, myself included). Maybe the 45+ demographic would like the OSU-ND NCG. Certainly not males age 18-30. Nobody wants to see ND in the NCG game regardless besides ND fans. Doesn't matter who they are playing

Top 3 teams in that ESPN poll were ND, OSU and Penn State. Hello programs that used to be great. OSU has been better than the other two in the last decade, but really most non-catholics don't care about ND football other than bitching about them being overrated in preseason polls damn near every year. Tons of people watched the USC-ND game this past weekend. And most, if not all, non-ND fans were wanting them to lose so they didn't have to watch them in the NCG.

Those two schools have gigantic alumni fanbases though that are very loyal and supportive. That always helps the situation.

I'm pretty objective. Just sometimes too outspoken. Especially when I get bored at work and jacked up on a strong cup of coffee
