lotsa people love to rage back and forth over which league is best, but this lsu/auburn game for lack of being able to catch easy passes and complete choking FG kickers is a laff

Where was LSU's D against Arizona St.?

ASU had 560 total yards against that GREAT LSU defense. ASU had 461 yards passing against that great pass D of LSU. ASU had 99 yards rushing.

LSU D is fortunate to play in the SEC vs the Pac 10.

Didn't LSU need 2 SPECIAL TEAMS TD's and 40 yard 4th down bomb to beat Arizona St.?

Isn't ASU a 2 loss Pac 10 team in conf. play?

LSU the last 2 years is 2-0 against Pac 10 teams but many would say they needed "fortunate circumstances" to win both games. Oregon St. missing 3 PATS! Isn't Auburn 0-2 against pac 10 the last 3 years?

The lack of sophisticated offenses and poor QB play give off the false impression of "great" defenses. Not to mention coaches playing conservative and running their players into each other all game.

I was saying that i like the style of play and the tough defense the SEC plays...

Well, I live in ACC country, and I have always said that the SEC is the best overall conference.
That LSU/Auburn game today was horrible. #80 for LSU needs his scholarship looked at as well. After missing an easy TD pass, what does he do? He stops short for a pass that would have set up the winning TD. The ball is right there, he starts to dive and lets up. Give me a break. I mean I know its tough to go across the middle knowing your going to get hit. I played WR, and that can suck. But you have to do it.
But, here, all he has to do is dive and possibly take a hit on the ground, and he lets up, after blowing the earlier TD. If I'm LSU, I show this guy the door, or at least the scout team. Let him take the hits in practice I took while on my high school's scout (scab) team. Its not fun....well, at the same time it is fun, b/c its football. Just not the best situation.
Overall, I don't know what conference is best. The reason I hate the Pac-10 is b/c defense usually beats offense and I feel like USC couldn't survive an 11-game season unbeaten in most other conferences.
The ACC is sort of good now, but only b/c of adding 4 teams. The original 8 suck. Bunting and Amato are the 2 worst coaches in America.
Top to bottom, I will still take the SEC, but overall, football just isn't what it used to be. Most of what you have now is track stars that don't really know the game being coached by idiots that don't have a clue. In short, you've got thug-ball and only a few teams can actually win consistently.
Its not so much parity as it is randomness. When idiots play against idiots, well, unfortunately some of the idiots have to win. It just differs from week to week which idiots win and how the losing teams let it slip away.

TJ,

you make some good pts :)

IMO its like what I see in hoops, kids want to play "games" or get into "runs" and not work on their fundamentals .. My neph is a great golfer but likes to play "rounds"; i try to tell him Tiger will go hit 1000 balls after a 2 rounds and putt for 3 hours--my neph is a great kid but he doesnt "get it" ... learn the alphabet b4 you try to take a spelling test

Good Job TJ
Couple of things you pointed out I agree with strongly.......... only thing missing is the Big 10. They play both sides of the ball, offense and defense, just depends on the team :mj07: But overall, better than both these Aforementioned conferences, JMHO :sadwave:
I dont need another argument Scotty, but come bowl time, we shall see.............. :mj14:

Honestly, I don't know who can beat USC. But imagine having 4 or 5 games like that Notre Dame one. Physically and emotionally draining. A big difference in that compared to resting all the starters half way through the 3rd quarter in most games.
I take nothing away from USC. I'd just like to see if they could do it in a better conference.

I compare them to Florida State during the 1990's. Bowden had the absolute perfect setup to win a national championship. 11 games, 8 of which were conference games. He started out in the Top 5. His non-conference games were Miami, Florida, and a crappy team. So, he never got accused of not playing a tough schedule.
He played Miami early and if he lost, he could easily climb back up to the top of the polls. He beat the crappy non-conference team and had a great chance to go 8-0 in the conference b/c it was so weak. Might be one or 2 teams from year to year that would actually give them a run, but they'd still win.
So, its the last game of the year and FSU is almost always either 10-0 or 9-1 and ranked anywhere from 1-4.
If he beats Florida, he plays for the nat'l championship.
He had his whole season easily set up to play one game and if he wins it, he plays for the title.
I just see a very similar situation there at USC and thats what drives me crazy about college football.
I just want my tourney put into effect. There would be no bitching b/c there could be no bitching. Its completely fair.
