go to one of the all inclusive places in Mexico. Cost effective that time of year as well since it's the off season.

I think Madjack has been to Costa Rica, but I'm not sure.

If you go to Costa Rica, please let us know how it went. Trying to decide between Costa Rica and Panama for a Christmas trip for me and the wife this year...

Went to Aruba last Thanksgiving. Great weather, very good food. very nice beaches and beautiful water. Overall not overly expensive though probably not as cheap as Mexico.

Went to the Rivera Maya two weeks ago for the second anniversary for a 4 day trip. Stayed at an all0inclusive, El Dorado Royale, which was very nice. We went to St. lucia for our honeymoon, and I enjoyed this last trip better. Much shorter flights, MUCH cheaper, the resort was nicer and less and crowded, and the food was much better.

Basically, I will never go to a Sandals resort again. Mexico, in general, is a great place with nice weather and very affordable.

The Rivera Maya is about 30 miles South of Cancun. You fly in to Cancun and take a shuttle. I feel like you avoid the crowds of Cancun this way. They have a shuttle that will take you shopping any day if you want to go in Cancun.

I've done a few of those but the one place I've always wanted to go was Costa Rica. A friend of mine went to the Four Seasons there on some unlimited golf package, said it was amazing. Arnold Palmer course, no one plays there, had the course to himself every day.

Playa del Carmen Mexico is also nice. Stayed at a place there called Aventura Palace, I think it was renamed since I went there. All inclusive type place, not bad. No real good ocean to swim in though. Personally my wife and I have loved the two Sandals we have been too (Negril and Grande St Lucian) but they are not for everyone. Cant go wrong with any of these places really, but I have started to favor places that take less time to get to. Nothing worse on a vacation than wasting too much time traveling

Dawgball, I was considering a Sandals Resort since it seemed to be adult only. Can you give me the good and bad?
thanks

the Ocean Club in Paradise Island. 5 minute car-ride from the Atlantis (for the gambling), but like night and day in terms of atmosphere and amenities (from the Atlantis). Not cheap, but something you and your wife will remember for quite some time.

thanks joe. Had a suite there for my 10th anniversary. Unbelievable luxury. Butler, pillow menu (I'm not kidding), shower you could fit 6 people into, anything you want brought to you on their private beach (lobster, steak, drinks, etc...). Man do I want to go back again.
