They have been anemic at best on offense averaging 19 points per game and that was with McGloin either alternating with Bolden or starting exclusively. Additionally, most of that scoring ave was built against the powerhouse D's of Indiana State, Eastern Michigan, and Northwestern. Now that McGloin is out, it's all Bolden -- who brings these dynamic stats:
46/109 (42% completion rate) for 548 yards producing 1 TD against 4 int.
The guy who gave McGloin the concussion in the locker room fight (Drake/WR) will be sitting at home.
PSU is ranked 101 in scoring offense. 15th in D (we all know their D is very good). But Houston is ranked 1 in scoring and only gives up an ave of 23 points per game. Sure, maybe PSU comes up with a few stops -- and maybe PSU can manufacture a TD or two by grinding the running game. But
Houston will be relentless and when (I don't think it's if) the Cougs build a bit of a lead, Bolden and the Nits are not equipped at all to make a comeback.
If the Cougs somehow jump to an early lead, I think it could be really ugly.
On top of all this, the coaching situation is ugly. It's pretty clear Bradley is not getting the job (it doesn't seem anybody else wants it). I like Houston at less than a TD. Double my usual bet. :toast:
