who`s surprised?.....the donkeys once again genuflect to the diety of socialistic political correctness....

our moonbat posters are having an orgasm about bush`s comments at a speech.... while this, with the aid of the msm(including fox),slipped in under the radar....

37 democrats...not 1 republican...i no longer will question their patriotism....cause they simply don't have any.....

dems will have none of it....the "party of trial lawyers" would never go for a bill that might deny them or their donors income.....

and this time the media was completely complicit in sneaking it through without anyone knowing it was even happening....the democrats and the press learned their lesson from the immigration fight.....and that lesson was:"don`t trust the american people"...

the lesson WE`RE sent?...IF YOU SEE SOMETHING KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT.....or expect to be sued by cair/the aclu....

can't you just hear al qaeda's reaction to the antics of our legislative branch this week?...

ptui!!!

btw...hillary and evan bayh voted yes...as did,of course,lieberman.....and i think chucky schumer did ,too...

kudos....hillary`s by far,the best of a bad crew, despite her socialistic social agenda....

Unlike you GW, I find no humor in the shortcomings of our elected officials. It is no small issue when the President of the United States is simply unable to put together a pair of coherent sentences.

Ok, I looked it up. Didn't know it was called 'John Doe', but i'm familiar with it.

No reason whatsoever to vote against it. Sometimes these politicians are totally baffling. I'd like to hear a rationale from a few of those voting against it. WTF could they say?

American public is so stupid

American public is so stupid

The US government is not a matter of Repubs vs. Dems, it a matter of the rich against the poor and middle class. As long as the government can keep you divided as Repubs and Dems, they win. The war in Iraq is costing 10 billion a month, Bush won't raise taxes, so who pays? Where does the money come from? The government borrows the money from the Federal bank, 10 billion a month plus interest, the terrorists and the banks win. The bank have our government in their pocket, the best government money can buy. The US government can print that 10 billion a month and spend it themselves, interest free, why don't they? This is the United States of America, but the government does not want to see the people united. BTW do you think Boeing is an American company? 90% of the aircraft is made outside of the US. Since 2001 38,000 Boeing employees have lost their jobs. Just wanted to throw that in.

Makes you think about the V. Plame case, i can expose you but you can't sue me for doing it.

?????..wtf does this have to do with the john doe amendment getting quashed by the dems?.......would it be to much to ask for you to stay on topic?....i know that you`d like to avoid my bringing this to light,omar....

we know you hate america and it`s government....we got that....noted...

i`d like the reporters to get their butts in gear for a change and go after pelosi and pin her down as to why she and her minion are blocking this and expose her...

fat chance...it barely made the wire services...

i find this beyond disturbing...the abysmally dumb democrats are intent on allowing another 9/11...all in the name of protecting 'civil rights'....and the trial lawyers.....

they do not consider the peoples' right' to continue living as imperative...

not only that,it should be noted that it is not only the lawsuits that will scare people off.....it is the very fact of being identified, of having your name known to people capable of mega violence....

what the democrats have done is to validate the fear that there is nowhere to run from the jihadists, no sanctuary, that even the american government will not protect you....

any clear thinking person realizes this is insane...

btw...it`s no accident that both n.y. senators voted for this.....i don`t want to think that this was a calculated move by the dems to keep hill and chucky from being lynched while knowing they have enough votes to block the amendment....

i really hope that wasn`t the case...

Agree with you on this one, I believe, GW. Have not looked too deeply, but should look at it closer. There has to be a good reason, or at least there should be, for being against it.

Why do you think that I would be trying to "defend" anyone? I am not familiar enough with the bill to speak about it intelligently.

fair enough,judge.......my bad.....i withdraw the comment...

i`d like to say that i`m encouraged that kosar, judge and chad ,even though they admittedly haven`t had the chance to look the issue over, are open to questioning why 37 dems blocked this amendment.....this means that i`ve possibly misjudged some i consider staunch partisans....

i`d also like to reiterate that hillary clinton`s vote on this, whatever the motivation, shows me something.....actually several things.....

either she`s politically savvy enough to bite her tongue and vote for the bill,in spite of wanting to follow the party line here....knowing that a no vote here would have been grist for the republicans in 08....

or,that representing n.y......a city that`s already been kicked squarely in the nuts by terrorists, she understands that the real first responders are the citizens....and you can`t tie their hands.....

i just find this stunning.....asking whether, in this era (or, frankly, any era), you should be able to tell the police you saw something troubling without having to worry about it is like asking whether you should be able to breathe.....it is common sense — if such a thing exists anymore in america...

good lord....other than c.a.i.r. or the aclu, who would even consider suing someone for being vigilant......

will people start suing "neighborhood block watch captains" for reporting suspicious activity?.....

since when should i, an average citizen , have to worry if i'm "profiling" someone? ..

i hate this, i really do. ....they are splitting fine hairs to disarm us....

there has to be more to this than just profiling and political correctness....this is way to important...

if anybody knows why so many dems(biden?...i`m beyond shocked) voted against protecting whistle blowers, please jump in....

GW I think many prob do not know what this bill was-

Democrats cut 'John Doe' provision
By Audrey Hudson
July 19, 2007
Congressional Democrats today failed to include a provision in homeland security legislation that would protect the public from being sued for reporting suspicious behavior that may lead to a terrorist attack, according to House Republican leaders.

"This is a slap in the face of good citizens who do their patriotic duty and come forward, and it caves in to radical Islamists," said Rep. Peter T. King, New York Republican and ranking member of the House Homeland Security Committee.

Republicans wanted the provision included in final legislation, crafted yesterday during a House and Senate conference committee, that will implement final recommendations from the September 11 commission.

Mr. King and Rep. Steve Pearce, New Mexico Republican, sponsored the provision after a group of Muslim imams filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against US Airways and unknown "John Doe" passengers. The imams were removed from US Airways Flight 300 on Nov. 20 after fellow passengers on the Minneapolis-to-Phoenix flight complained about the imams' suspicious behavior.

On March 27, the House approved the "John Doe" amendment on a 304-121 vote.

Add this to the dems other "tough on terror agendas and here what you get--

--Don't profile muslims getting on public transportation
--if you happen to catch terrorist make sure he has access to attorney
--do not use any interrogation methods but name and Jihad #
--and now -allow them to sue anyone that turns them in--

--just one more Dem/PC/Liberal agenda that has the terrorist :00hour

Hey, anything supported by both the ACLU and CAIR can't be all bad, can it?

Can we sue the Democrats for failing to protect America?

Justin Higgin's poster:
ifyousee.jpg

The democrats killed this in committee (something possible at this stage 'cause it was attached to unrelated bill), and killing it that way is sneaky--means we don't know who exactly did the killing (happens all the time in DC). Then a supra-majority is needed to override it in full senate. Fell three votes short of that (No Republican voted against it, Hillary voted for it, Brownback didn't bother any vote and Obama sat it out).

Looks like there will be enough uproar over this that chairman Lieberman will be able to slip the provision back in before the conference committee over next several days.

Those fvcking democrats and their law and order due process bullshit. When can do away with this constitutional crap and really get serious about rounding up these terrorists? Have you ever been or are you now a member of the communist party?

The GOP had 6 years to easily pass something like this with virtually no objection. Why didn't they? Too busy chasing gamblers? Easier to wait til the Dems are majority, so they can confidently vote for something that won't pass?

It was intiated recently because of the Imans (spl) sueing airlines and everyone else Smurph--which happened this year--besides what diff would it make to jabbers and the dems if it was 6 years ago-unless you conceed the whole dem party are floppers :)

While Billiary and Bama sidesteped the issue--the fact that the party voted against it will cost some votes unless it continues be hidden from public-

If Hillary voted for the amendment, how is it that you determined she was "sidestepping" it?

c`mon smurph....

dtb answered your question....this is a new tactic thought up by c.a.i.r. and backed by(guess who?)....the aclu....

nobody ever thought that such a ludicrous thing could be used as a tactic against the law abiding....now,the dems have implicitly given the green light....

the poster that terry posted is mocking an actual poster that is up all over nyc...."if you see something, say something".... how can that be?...when you stand to lose everything in a lawsuit?...

guys like wocky are ignorant of the fact that these monsters are using our open society against us...with the help of the aclu....

due process?...does that mean that every burglar that gets stopped or questioned by neighborhood watch circumventing a robbery or worse can sue?....

why isn`t this an issue in the media?...hell,most of you guys weren`t even aware of this..why isn`t pelosi asked to answer the question,"why?".....

you don`t think this new tactic will have a chilling effect on whistle blowers?...

yes, this is going to have repercussions that will affect civil society, as well as the w.o.t....

you think that people aren't going to be emboldened to sue others who report them for suspicious criminal behavior, such as flashing weapons or threatening people?.....it's not going to stop with the flying imams......this really opens the flood gates for suing anybody reporting any suspicious behavior to the cops....

isn't it nice to know that the pathetic democrats in congress care more about c.a.i.r., political correctness, imaginary grievances from terror supporting victim groups, the trial lawyer`s lobby, than real threats to the security of the american people?.....

you guys talk about bush....is it any wonder congress' poll numbers are even shittier?..

this is just another nail in the coffin.....if you don`t own one,it`s time to own a gun and learn how to use it..it may not help if you get immolated....but,it`s something.....obviously,.our government is not working for the american public anymore.....

:mj07: No, I refuse to panic until we see terrorist school bus drivers blowing up our children. You've been crying wolf way too long.

OK, I looked into this amendent a little closer. It was 1 vote away from passing. If republican Brownback had cast a vote, it would have passed. I have a feeling it will come up again. It passed easily in the House. Depending on how that case in Minnesota ends up, it could be dealt with properly sooner than later.

Yes, no valid reason not to support this at all. This fear of profiling business is one of the problems I have with many democrats. I think most democrats feel the same way as I. Props to Hillary for breaking from her majority and casting her own vote. This is not the first time she's shown herself to NOT be a liberal when it comes to defense and terrorism. Yet, it never seems to sink in with her critics.

Try and keep a little perspective on this. Despite not adding the John Doe Amendemnt, the new security bill is still progress. It requires better equipment, better transportation security, and finally some decent cargo screening (things the GOP twiddled their thumbs on for 5 years). We are still going in the right direction.
