they`re saying that it might be due to an old foot injury(stepping on glass).......

i`ve also read that using peds(or steroids) can cause the blood to thicken and cause clots and strokes....

just looking at the girl...her physicality for being female.....it`s pretty much off the charts...

of course, nobody`s gonna dare mention it... but it was the first thing i thought of...

i wonder...

might be u never know. i was reading she just started training after long time she was away due to that foot injury. she might have used more than good training to get back on top.

good that she was OK. I remember few years ago the youngest Polish olympic gold medalist ever died due to similar event, clot in lung.

It 's possible that it could be steroid related ( I hope not ) I 'm glad she is alright. I was wondering if they screwed up when she had foot surgery! I believe she had 2-3 more slams left in her. Tennis is going to miss her.
Also thanks for the kind words the other day re: my cancer

For some reason, maybe the way I read it, I thought you had it kicked. All the best, man! I'm knowing more and more people these days that are dealing with the big C and it scares the hell out of me. Best wishes.

I would think 'roids and or birth control pills immediately, but I have a female friend that just recently had a PE (lung blood clot) that was caused by some weird blood discrazia she has been now diagnosed with.

Best to u also mover. Bladder cancer seems way to common around here, and I know it sux n a bad way bc of the treatment and surgery they do. I do know people out several years from it though that are doing terrific and u would never know they had the surgery.

Where it is real F ing COLD
Knew a lady who grew up in my neighborhood and she was bucked by a horse. She then began having difficulty breathing and was rushed to the hospital. She had a P.E. and the horse knocked it loose and it exploded in her lung and sadly she past. 29 y/o.

Now with Serena Williams she had foot surgery and had been wearing a cast for some time. She developed a deep vein thrombosis in her calf and it traveled to her lung. So steroids was probably not the cause but if she was taking them then it greatly increase the risk but with her I am sure she was flying and traveling all around and being on a plane is not recommended after surgery. These clots develop in the leg from immobility.

Remember Derrick Thomas LB Chiefs.. This is exactly what he died from. Paralyzed and lost feeling and mobility in lower extremities. Developed a clot in his legs that traveled to his lungs. Now that was a travesty because I think he was in a rehab center at the time. I would have to think he was on Heparin injections. But in his case he could not tell a person he was having pain cause of the paralysis.
The symptoms would of been Swelling, Redness/Discoloration, Warmth, and lack of Pulses. This should have been noticed by medical staff. DVT is a bit harder to find with a black person than a white person because the discoloration is much more evident but the nurses should of been performing regular pulse checks and lower extremity observations for swelling and warmth. Just my rant on Derrick Thomas.
