J.D. Drew StL will be held out of the Cardinals' starting lineup today because of his sore right knee, although he will be available to pinch-hit, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Tony La Russa said that Drew will be available for two of the three games against the Cubs this weekend.

Mariners manager Bob Melvin indicated that he will keep John Olerud (1B) Sea out of action on Thursday in the hopes of getting him ready to play on Friday, according to the Seattle Times. Olerud has a strained right hamstring and has missed the past two games.

A's trainer Larry Davis indicated that Eric Chavez (3B) Oak has a "moderate to severe" contusion on his right foot, according to the Contra Costa Times. Chavez isn't expected to miss more than a couple of games.
