Roberts never transfered to Miami. He left LSU after his sophomore season (ineligible his first season) to play professionally in Spain and was drafted the following year by Orlando. He played one season together with Shaq and, amazingly, was an ever worse free-throw shooter.

I didn't feel sorry for Shaq in college. Sure, he got hacked, but he was a man against boys and physically dominated everyone he played against after his freshman season, all the while knowing he was on his way to making millions of dollars.

Shak was lucky to hit a dunk his first season at LSU. They actually had a better 7 footer that entered school that same year named Stanley Roberts. They played them as the twin towers. Shak was getting all the attention so Roberts transfered to Miami. Shak didn't develope any shooting touch until Kareem worked with him one summer. I felt sorry for Shak in college.

Stanley Roberts was ineligible academically his freshman season. The following season he averaged 14 pts and 10 rebounds. He left LSU after his 2nd season (would not have qualified academically) and played pro ball for Real Madrid before entering the NBA draft (selected low 20s by Magic).

As far as Shaq is concerned, I was at LSU at that time and can assure you that nothing about Shaq's college life on or off the court would make me feel sorry for him. He dominated physically on the court and off of the court was the undisputed "King" of one of the biggest party universities in the nation.

Thanks for correcting me. Everything I posted came out of my faulty memory and I was afraid I might have the timing on Russell a year or two wrong. Most people today think that Wilt had to dunk a lot to get 100 but I didn't say that. He had every shot and that was what was so odd about his inability to hit the foul shot. I probably should have checked my memory against the stats. I had forgot that he made the move to SF with the Warriors but came back to play with the Sixer's.

Was I right that Robert's only season at LSU was the first year that Shak was there? That's the only one I remember and the word I got was that he was unhappy playing second fiddle to Shak and planned to transfer to Miami. I saw them play several times that year and Stanley was the better player at the time.

I'll still take Wilt.

Stanley was more highly touted and the better offensive player from the start. They played together for 1 season with Stanley averaging 14 and 9+ and Shaq 11 and 11+. Stanley came to LSU with the ability to score in the post, whereas Shaq thrived on garbage baskets and huge dunks due to his overall lack of skill.
