So you agree that the girl deserved to be incarcerated for thirty days when first time offender of a DWI doesn't do a single day of time other than the day he/she is arrested. You agree that judges should be able to alter decision's after already entered? You must also believe that she committed a crime, and the judge was within his rights to incarcerate her. If you agree with this than by your reasoning, a non English speaking person should go straight to jail because he will certainly say all kinds of "offensive" words.
Another thing, I don't know how it is done in Canada, but here in the U.S. ALL of our citizens are bound by the same laws. In order to hold someone in contempt of court there must first be an audible warning either from the bench or executed by the bailiff. The reason for this is provide for what we call "due process" as contempt is considered a citation and no trial is needed. In an effort to keep the judges, notice I said effort because it obviously missed this egotist, from abusing this power they must first adhere to the tenets of due process. There was no warning and he raised her fine without reason, meaning he did not state for the record that and enter into court transcripts that the defendant had been warned and found to be in contempt.
What you are condoning is basically tyranny. Everyone has rights chief and just because you wear a robe to work doesn't mean you get to violate them.
Maybe you kiss the ring just because he is a judge and elevate his status in your own mind, but all I see is an asshole in black that has a job to do and isn't doing it very well. As a matter of fact, he is breaking the law. I am quite sure there will be a follow up to his little elitist tantrum.

Bullshit, Cris. I watched a couple guys get marched to jail when the judge realized the DWI offenders weren't taking responsibility for their actions but blaming it on the friend that kept feeding them extra beers. "Since you can't take responsibility for your own actions, I will." I'll never forget it and I think that judge struck while the iron was hot, just like this guy did. These idiots think everything is a fucking joke and are going to be right back before them if someone doesn't get their attention. I applaud these judges for being the parent these idiots obviously never had.

I don't know the background of the particulars of that but I am guessing that their actions and violations were far more egregious than saying adios.
I guess the reason I used that as an example is because the majority of first time offenders of DWI don't do jail time.
It's one thing to go to trial for DWI and say it was my buddy's fault because they fed me beers and I ran over that fence because of that and a whole other thing to say adios to a Latino.
The judge vacated her sentence after apoligizing & some tears ,with a attorney next to her. I guess she blamed it on xanax. She's probably slapping hands with her little knucklehead friends about how cool she is,hopefully she learned her lesson but I doubt it.
He had no choice but to vacate the sentence the second she got a lawyer and the video went viral.
As I stated earlier, he overstepped his authority and position, fuck him.
