Gun control is not the desire of Democrats not is there a political agenda by the left to create unrest amongst the culture.
The largest contributing factor to social and political unrest in the United States is ignorance. Nobody seeks truth anymore. Look at the responses in this thread alone. Canned responses; you're not going to stop criminals because they are bad to the core, the left is too politically correct, it's a certain religion that's too blame, we have gun control already and it doesn't work. Bullshit, bullshit, bullshit. Not a single one of those statements are accurate or based on actual events. You don't know any of it to be true, but mention anything related to the subject and all I hear is the same parroted bullshit I heard on the news, or the radio. How the fuck would you know what would happen, you haven't tried it nor lived through the scenario. You don't know shit when it comes to the consequences of cultural and societal equality. Of course banning weapons will reduce gun violence. It's happened just like that in every single instance that has been implemented. The evidence is crystal clear, you just refuse to accept it. You can't accept and even refuse to allow some citizens the same rights as you (marriage, voting rights, fair wage, freedom of choice), seeking to vilify a large portion of our society, driving wedge after wedge of distrust and malevolence in to the structure of our nation's cultures. Let's not consider universal Healthcare because you think it will cost you an extra dollar or upset the status quo of making insurance and pharmaceutical companies the wealthiest in the land, while the citizens that already made this country great die alone without adequate Healthcare. It's none of that, it's you! It's your refusal to budge or compromise on anything because you think you're right! Everyone thinks they know what the problem is but none offer any semblance of a suitable solution, everyone would rather the world burn to the ground around them Ratner than sacrifice any of themselves to improve any situation.
You want to make shit better, quit being part of the problem. Quit thinking its everyone else's fault. It's your fault I assure you. You don't get to have a utopian society based on getting your own way every time.
It won't happen though. People are too dug in and far too caught up in their own selfishness and greed to do anything to help.

I don't pretend to be nearly as smart as you, but your post does arouse my curiosity about a couple of things. First, you wrote, "Nobody seeks truth anymore." So, I need to ask, what is your definition of truth? I just looked up the dictionary.com definition of truth, but wondered if yours was somewhat different. Secondly, you mention a refusal to budge or compromise on anything because someone thinks they're right. What if that person who refused to budge or compromise had the truth? Why would there be a need to budge or compromise? To settle for something less to promote the common good? How do you or why would you even attempt to negotiate from a position of truth if for no other reason than to have others see your point of view. Truth is immutable.

If you're going to waste my time trying to turn this into a meaningless diatribe about your faith and/or use it as a means to proselytize others to your particular brand of religion, don't bother. You want an immutable truth, religion polarizes societal bonds, promotes conflict and starts wars. Singularly, faith has personal benefits to the individual, that's it. When you say things eschewing other religions, you're contributing to the problem.
