You hear comments like this all the time but the record book simply does not support this point of view.top 10 recruiting coaches....Mack Brown may be one of the top 3 or 4 around.
top 10 GAMEDAY coaches....Mack doesnt belong on the list.
Mack Brown is the only coach in the country to post six straight, 10 (or more) win seasons and he has at least nine wins in all nine seasons since taking the helm at Texas. Brown's squad has been the best in the country during the first decade of the 21st century during which time the Longhorns have won five of six bowl games, recorded at least 11 victories on four occasions and have finished in the nation's Top Six four times since 2000. With a mark at Texas of 93-22, he has the best winning percentage (.809) of any coach in Longhorn history.
Dating back to his days at North Carolina, Brown's squads have registered 11 consecutive nine (or more) victory seasons, 17 winning seasons in a row and 15 consecutive bowl berths. He also has guided his squads to 11 straight national Top 25 finishes, which includes 10 Top 15 rankings in the past 11 years. Brown stands alone as the only coach in NCAA Division I-A with a current streak of 11 nine (or more) win campaigns in a row and ranks second among college coaches in consecutive winning seasons and bowl berths. His 160 victories since 1990 and 113 wins in the last 11 years both rank second nationally.
But still, he is not a good game day coach.
