Well went something like 8-11 yest.Just like I was saying.Way to many games and Saturdays can kill me.But was smart and only lost one big play in So bama.Poor job on my part.Played everything else very lightly. Finally got lucky on the half pt going my way in the Hofstra game.Line went to 12.5 so it covered.

Lets go to my favorite conf the MAAC

Siena -1.5 over Marist-real strong play here.
Big rival game.Marist got knocked out of the MAAC tourney by them lyr so revenge is a big factor today.Could go to the game today but it will be televised tomr nite on tape delay.
Marist is 4-5 at home.Having major problems in the paint. They have no real center or power fowards. They have a great 3 in Eppehimer.A decent pt gd who weighs 170 pds in Bennett.A small 2 gd in Ellerbee .Young is a avg fd who leads the team in bds.but he has no moves to the basket.Hood the frosh gd will start.Magarity is shaking up his lineup after the Iona drubbing the other nite.
They have no post defense.I've said that back in Nov.Handy the 6'8 kid plays soft.No one can rebound on this team.
In comes Siena with the best rebounding team in the MAAC.Everyone rebounds.
Karawanga the 6'7 pt gd leads the team.Haddix the freshman is a force inside.Andrews,Miller and Sniezyk are 6'8,6'9 and 7'0.
Marist will play their 2-3 zone or 3-2.They have to.No one can match up with Karawanga.Mitchell the pt gd is also playing well.
Siena will play man.Marist biggest weapon is Eppe shooting from the outside.Siena is a much quicker team.Better shooters, rebounders, etc
Siena has "legs" where the Foxes don't.
Siena is in the hunt in the MAAC standings. In 3rd place they have a rematch game on Thur with Fairfield.Win this one on the road and your within striking distance to Manhattan and Fairfield.
Karawanga has never won at Marist. The past couple of yrs the Saints have lost in Poughkeepsie. But I think that changes today.Another quick note.Saints in there past 5 games have outscored their opponents 40-6 in the 1st few minuts of every game.Lanier must have some great warmup drills prior to the opening tap.Strong play on the saints.

Fairfield -12.5 over St Pete
Why is everyone always picking on Pete.Fairfield front line should dominate.Gai&Deng,Garcia,Delfico,Thompson etc. St Petes has Clark who is a one man show avg 25 pts a game. But Todd and Goode will be all over him pressing and forcing him.Cannot see this as a close game.Stags win coasting by 15-20.

Niagara +1 over Rider
I know Rider just beat Canisius by 2 at home the other nite.Canisius already beat Niagara. But this game has matchup problems for Rider.Niagara has 2 of the toughest "paint" players in the MAAC in Mendez and Reaves. These 2 guys control the bds. Both can score but one is the worst FT in the nation. There both 6'7 and 6'8 but play way above that.Deardon is there top player and one of the best in the conf avg 16 pts.But the guy I love is Alvin Cruz the pt gd.He is so underated.best 3 pt shooter on the team but has a lot of speed.
Rider has Johnson who can do it all except shoot 3's.He's 30-109 with a 27% avg.Young and Taylor are both getting better scoring in Double digits. But the 6'10 Reed will have his hands full dealing with the Purples inside players.
I think Niagara gets a small road win here today.Mihalich is a good bench coach and gets the most out of his kids.

Canisius -6 over Loy Md
I like the Griffs a lot.Dux is my favorite player in the MAAC.Mallory is one of the top players.Loy Md is the only team that I can't get a good read on.Not sure of them.I had the line at -4 or -5.So 6 seems like a lot to me.Might make it a very small play or pass on it.Sruill the 300 pounder has been playing terrible.Watching them the other day on TV vs St Peter, Dux looked at Mallory a few times in the last 3 minuts of a close game and didn't pass to him.He was wide open and had just hit a big 3 pt shot.Maybe problems on that team.Maybe not.All i know is when my top player isn't touching the ball in a tight game something is wrong.Maybe they will work at their problems at home.On the road could be dangerous.

West Wir -3.5 over Rutgers
On the road,go against the Nites.
Cuse and Carmelo beat Rice and co by a couple.

Fairfield

Had the pleasure to watch Fairfield vs. Siena on TV last Monday. The Stags are one SCRAPPY team! Even though they fell behind early, they never quit. They hustled their asses off, and were rewarded with a nice win. Seems like they should blow-out pitiful St. Pete. Thanks for all your write-ups.

banging siena hard today, looking to recoup some $ lost w/ them earlier this season...not sure if their guard probs are solved by switching karangwa to point, but it seemed to work last game...love this team's blue-collar attitude, all seem willing to do whatever hc lanier dictates, problem seems to be a communal attention-deficit syndrome necessitating constant butt-kicking from coaching staff...think they win big today...
also going strong on fairfield even tho' i don't think st pete is the patsy most everyone else does...pete made me $$ in LY's late season, might happen again but not today, the field rolls...man, it's been snowing up here--again--for the last 3 hrs, gigantic pain in the butt...raiders win today...gl, caper

Box,

You must be getting ready to retire early!
Another outstanding day!
I don't know of anyone who has a better feel for a conference than you do for the MAAC
Again, Great Day!

Have a good Super Bowl

Am watching the Siena-Marist game right now on tape delay.Siena just went on a 15-4 run to take a halftime lead 37-31.You can tell right now its over just looking at the foxes.I will tape it since the Super Bowl game is on soon. Thanks for the nice comments.Have been hitting these MAAC games.
Tomr Manhattan plays Seton hall.Have no idea of the line.Would love to see the Jaspers +3 or 4.
You have to remember these Manhattan kids are the 2nd class citizens. Many BE coaches recruited them and put them on their waiting list only to give there scholarships to the more popular players.
Bobby G will have these guys motivated.
Also will capp Johnnies-Conn
Took the Raiders -3.5
and some stupid prop bets..Gannon to score 1st,Porter to score a TD,and Crokett to score.

bear..our Stags are tough
thanks redking,mcity,caper and doglover
