they just drug in a bear :( (okay PARTS from a bear)!!!!

my neighbor is an avid hunter and always has carcasses (sp?) lying around in his yard.....usually it is deer, but right now he has a bear out there. guess he is trying to test the coyotes strength. they have the deer drug off within 24 hours, but this has been out there for 3 days now and they still haven't managed to get it away so that it doesn't end up in my living room!!! :(

mama,

It's just an expression of gratitude.

Yep! This means your cats love you. Solution, don't let them outside. They don't do anything but kill small, desirable songbirds anyway when they go outside (besides digging up and crapping in the kid's sandbox or the flowerbed).

buddy and 6-5, under some circumstances i'd agree with you, but not in this case :D

these little CHITS are not showing gratitude of love here....(they do that when they kill little voles and drop them right where i will step on them barefooted in the middle of the night) this is FOOD for THEM that gives them really nasty farts!!!! when they are showing gratitude, they bring things TO me......... these deer and bear parts they bring in for themselves to eat, and growl if any other cat or any of us try and take it away from them before they are finished.

and 6-5, they are basically farm cats that are given the luxury of coming in out of the cold if they want to, but for the most part are outdoors from spring until late fall. (although they have access to the inside of the house 365 days a year if they want it)
to this day, i have never known any of my cats to kill a songbird...for the most part (voles and mice excluded) they just drag things in that have already been killed by something/someone else. for some reason, they like to stick with things on the GROUND....LOL (lazy cats?)

ahh, bahamamama, they do kill songbirds. House cats kill for fun since they don't need food.

This is a really sore subject with me, and I truly believe that house cats/feral cats are the #1 cause of death in desirable small game animals/birds. I love cats and have 2 myself, but my feeling is that there place is inside.
