From what I understand, it isn't in any specific state. I found a couple websites about it.

the behind the laughter episode gives it away. At the end of the episode they refer to the simpsons as the northern kentucky family. I thinks it funny that Kentucky seems to be
affected by hurricanes and
located on the ocean and
has a major mountain peak.

The Behind the Laughter show bit is just teasing u people...after hiding the fact for that long, do u think they'd "really" give it away like that?
I think in the episode where they go to Branson MO, Lisa says it's like 900 miles away, rules out Springfield MO, it's only 30...
