Yes, please sign me up for this. That way, I can go to a GP for free who tells me i have coronary artery disease and need an angioplasty done. My visit was great, cause it was free!

Then, I can sit on a waiting list for 2 years to get the angioplasty done. In the meantime, i can have a heart attack and die while waiting.

It's great for canadians..they get free diagnosis and then travel across the border to the US and pay out of pocket for specialists, rather than sit there and rot while waiting in canada.

Sounds like a great system to me. Where do I sign?

Exactly my point. I would love to hear from our Canadian members about this.

Im a grad student studying hospital admin. My dad also sells health insurance. No way this passes anytime soon. :nono:

They make these blanket promises, but have no plan to make it work out. As far as canada goes. If you want to wait months for a procedure, then so be it.

Well Sponge, I guess the only appropriate response to "Iraq has free health care and I pay for it" is:

Please, please move to Iraq. You are getting ripped off - you are paying for something you can't even use (according to your argument). You better get over their fast, so you can get "your fair share".

Tip - take an air conditioner - I heard it's kinda hot over there this time of year...

Its simply human compassion that happens in every western industrialize nation but ours because we have naive people who get conned easily by the pharmaceuticals and the insurance companies because they are greedy pricks. Just wondering did some of you just become so self centered because of your mom and dads up bringing or is it just because you are staunch supporters of Fox News? Now Saint here is another thing i will beat down of yours that is absolutely not true. You say everyone waits. Well first off they don't have 47 million people left out of the line. If they did there wouldn't be a wait. Secondly read this about the wait.

This isn't the whole truth. CNN pulled out a statistic about elective procedures. Of the six countries surveyed in that study (United States, Canada, New Zealand, UK, Germany, Australia) only Canada had longer waiting times than America for sick adults waiting to schedule a doctor's appointment for a medical problem. 81% of patients in New Zealand got a same or next-day appointment for a non-routine visit, 71% in Britain, 69% in Germany, 66% in Australia, 47% in the U.S., and 36% in Canada. (The Doc's in, but It'll be AWhile. Catherine Arnst, Business Week. June 22, 2007 http://www.businessweek.com/technology/content/jun2007/
tc20070621_716260_page_2.htm)
"Gerard Anderson, a Johns Hopkins health policy professor who has spent his career examining the world's healthcare, said there are delays, but not as many as conservatives state. In Canada, the United Kingdom and France, 'three percent of hospital discharges had delays in treatment,' Anderson told The Miami Herald. 'That's a relatively small number, and they're all elective surgeries, such as hip and knee replacement.' One way America is able to achieve decent waiting times is that it leaves 47 million people out of the health care system entirely, unlike any other Western country. When you remove 47 million people from the line, your wait should be shorter. So why is the U.S. second to last in wait times? And there are even more Americans who keep themselves out of the system because of cost - in the United States, 24 percent of the population did not get medical care due to cost. That number is 5 percent in Canada, and 3 percent in the UK. (Inequities in Health Care: A Five-Country Survey. Robert Blendon et al, Health Affairs. Exhibit 5. http://content.healthaffairs.org/cgi/content/full/21/3/182)

here we go again. The dreaded wait in Canada. What about the other 50 countries? Always Canada, Canada, canada. You show me a handful of Canadians that will trade our health care for theirs and then you have something. I would be willing to bet none of them want ours unless they are lying.

Sounds to me like we need a compromise here. How about this. Since there are good people in bad situations this should not be very hard for them. If you can not afford your own insurance all you need to do is meet all the following requirments then you recieve "free" healthcare.

1) U.S. Citizen
2) Proof of employment or proof that the unemployment office has ZERO jobs available.
3) Pass a drug test

Few more things

1)We end medicaid.
2)All under 18 would be covered regardless.

Sounds reasonable right:shrug:

This is the problem with you guys. Its all targeted to the poor or a race deal. What about people who have health care but some shit isn't covered? Shit that wipes a life savings right out from under you. Most of you probably don't even know what your health care covers because you have been lucky enough to stay healthy. Try getting your shoulder looked at when its killing you and all they offer is an xray that you know very well aint gonna say dick. You want an MRI or a Cat scan but the insurance company says no. that is a bulk of what im saying about these greedy fuks. I hear the one guy saying "stay in shape and you don't have to worry" well good thing the Lance Armstrong had health care because that cancer would have took his great shape and excellent endurance and ate it up.

My proposal covers all of yourl needs. All I ask is that you be able to meet the requirments and that MRI is your my friend. There you go the good people in bad positions win in this program do they not.
