Sister has a Chesapeake and it is a beautiful dog but it does get territorial with other dogs.. It has bit her schitzu before..

So what does she do?. They go out and buy a pup shnowzer for my nephew.. They keep the dogs separated but today my sister went to work and my brother in law was getting dressed for work and had the 2 together down stairs and in that instance the fucking chesapeake killed that little dog.. My sister is devastated, I am sick to my stomach, and my brother in law is in hot water..

My poor little nephew is going to be devastated when he gets home from school. Now they want to put the Chesapeake to sleep.. Chesapeake has been great to humans but growls at the kids.. She wants me to take the Chesapeake but I have 2 dogs already and I can't chance them being hurt..

Why did they have to go out and get that puppy? Fuck I am pist. My sister is just devastated. She said she killed that dog. She should of never taken it home but my nephew seen her and wanted it so bad.. Just got to say no at times.

On a side note when I was 5 and my sister was 10 my grandparents had a dog that had some pit bulll in it.. It attacked her for no reason and tore her face apart, She had to have 5 plastic surgeries over the years.. If the dog would of attacked me instead, I would of been dead.. What saved her was her dog attacked that dog and got it off..

I guess she can't take a chance with the Chespeake,,

And BIL should not be blamed for this because it was going to happen eventually anyway. He feels bad enough as it is. Tell your sister to take it easy on him. He feels worse than anybody involved.

I had the picture of my nephews holding the pup on facebook.. I deleted that pic immediately after hearing the news. I only spent a couple hours with the pup but my mom is blaming herself for finding the pup for mys sister..

I just talked to my sister who is at work and she says she needs a valium. Hasn't heard back from the brother in law cause she told him to put the Chesapeake to sleep which is his dog. She said, "if that fucking dog is there when I get home there is going to be hell to pay!"

The fact is they have to get rid of the Chesapeake cause they are going to have to replace the puppy for my nephews eventually..

Hang in there.

Thanks, I am fine.. Just a little sick to my stomach about the whole thing.. My sis is really down blaming herself for exposing that pup to that environment even though she is my sis she is probably right. I just don't understand why she went out and got a pup and have it in the same house with a dog that does not like other animals..

Too bad.

Time to do the responsible thing and put the chesapeake down. Growls at kids? Not really directed at anyone but that is a disaster waiting to happen. Animals have innate genetic qualities and sometimes they are a little 'off' and can't control them. You guys have the warning signs. Sometimes the right thing to do is also the hardest. This is coming from something similar in our family.

Kids wanted a dog, so we got one. I kept a close eye on him for a long time to make sure he didnt growl or snap at the kids. It woulda taken one time and he woulda been gone. Turns out that dog is damn good. Protects them. Anybody that walks up to the kids in the yard, the thing will start to growl at them until me or my wife says his name. They are still animals though. I'll never trust them completely. Sorry bout your ordeal BP. Hope all turns out well.

Sorry to hear about this. I've never heard of this type of dog. Are they vicious in general towards other animals?

They are big hunting dogs.. I know this one killed any little animal that it could, squirrels, chipmunks, rabbits etc. This dog was a snuggler to humans but did give the nephews a growl from time or two.. Witnessed the nephews sneak attack the dog and give it a kick in the side.

Needless to say the nephew wasn't feeling to good shortly after that from good crack in the ass from his mom.

Sorry to hear about this.

I can remember one Easter when I was about 5 or so, the Easter bunny left my sister and I two rabbits. After getting ready for Sunday School, I thought I would introduce my rabbit Carrot to my dog Cindy who was a German Shepard.

I lowered the rabbit out to Cindy to smell and in an instance the rabbit was snatched and gone. I didn't understand what happened and Cindy went on to be the best dog I ever owned. She died when I was fourteen. Great dog...

Happy Easter!

I'm saddened to hear this story but even more saddened to hear that the Chesapeake was destroyed due to a human's lack of common sense. The attack probably wasn't intended to be deadly, but to establish the alpha. Unfortunately, you can't expect the dog to understand that it's just a puppy and more fragile than a adult small dog.

Why couldn't your brother-in-law have taken him to a shelter and told them that it's not good with other dogs or children? It could have made a good pet to an adult or couple with no other dogs and no plans of having kids.

It's just a shame it had to get the death penalty for doing what comes naturally, paying the ultimate price for poor decisions made by the humans.

P.S. It also sounds like the growling at kids may have been resulting from abuse and teasing by your nephew. Personally, I don't think he's ready for a puppy anyway.
