Really? Average at best?

I'm a Packer fan, but I've been very impressed with this Seattle team the last 7 weeks or so.

Defense is very good. Great running game. A QB that doesn't play like a rookie. Wilson is pretty much amazing, and makes something positive out of nothing all the time.

I think Seattle punches Atlanta in the mouth and is in the NFC Championship game. And once they get there, anything can happen. They are good enough, and playing well enough right now, to beat either GB or SF.

They may even go into Atlanta next week as a small favorite or as a pick 'em. Atlanta hasn't played that well toward the end off the year and played an easy schedule.

I sure hope Seattle is getting 7 or something crazy like that. Gone are the days where the home teams in the divisional round automatically win and cover (ask GB and ATL the last couple of years).

I hate Pete Carroll too, but he does have a very good team there.

Atl-Sea should open near a pick... :toast:

this team had no business winning this game today..

reacted poorly to Redskins home crowd and the Skins played with poise to start..

Skins up 14 see the reinjury to their QB and coach doesn't go to a at least once proven replacement and play a Redskin game w/Morris running and a close to the vest passing game w/a 14-0 lead..

an absolute horrible coaching decision to not give your team the best chance to win..By the middle of the 3rd quarter 111 was useless at best..

Seattle was dead in the water..on the road and against an inferior team..

is Seattle a little better than I give them credit for ..probably so..but this team lost 3 road games as a FAV and it showed today why..,.

they ain't all that and a bag of chips.

as far as taking out Atl in Atl.

if Atl. hasn't learned how to win a huge game at home vs an inferior opponet then shame on them..

Old School.... Let me remind you of 2 short seasons ago.... A #6 seed Green Bay Packers went into Atlanta in the divisional round, with Atlanta playing at home as the #1 seed.

Final score: Packers 48, Falcons 21.

This setup feels very similar to me. An overrated Falcons team against a very hot, very talented team with a young QB who is playing very well.

This will end badly for coach Smith. He has not won a playoff game as Atlantas coach. There is a ton of pressure on Atlanta. I do think Atlanta will be exposed, and Coach Smith will be fired the day after the game.

My 2 cents

sea + 7???

you packer fans sure know how to make lines

Gin, you missed the part earlier in the post where I said Seattle could be a small fav or maybe a pick.

I was HOPING for 7, cuz I love Seattle in this spot. It feels like 2011 all over again (when GB went in there as a 6 seed against a 1 seed and smacked them by almost 30 points).

and taken with the highest of respect as I know you WATCH these games..

but calling Atl. overrated is quite a stretch given the questions about the knockout ability from day one of this seasons camps.

Smith firing ..I doubt it but stranger thing have happened.

Atl has the widereceivers to give Seattle big secondary a great challenge.

Atl has no shortage of at least above average play from QB and running game..

we shall see.

the shame of it all the seasons is coming to a close and hockey and NBA Hopps are still boring as hell and for me impossible to pick winners from guys who play when they want to.

good luck whatever the side and or total all of ya play ..I'm teasing and pleasing my way out of a hole as it is:mj07:

I can relate. It was a good weekend, financially though.

While I do like Seattle right now, I certainly haven't spent time looking at this matchup. My gut says Seattle matches up well, but.....

I have to look at Atlanta closer. Their running game with Turner has been pretty bad all year, but Rodgers does give them a spark at RB. I want to see how Ryan has done against pressure defenses. I think ATL will have to throw 45 times to win. I don't see Turner being able to do anything at all.

Containing Wilson will be very tough for Atlanta, especially on turf. I think the Carolina matchups (who is not nearly as good as Seattle) is a good look. Newton has a similar skillet as Wilson, although Caolina does not have a RB or Defense as good as Seattle has. Atlanta beat them by 2 at home, and lost by 10 on the road. This should be a very tough game for Atlanta to win. Tony Gonzalez will be a key to this game.

This is a beyond difficult spot for Seattle - Besides the travel 8k in 7 days against a rested very good team. But this is the biggy the NOON start. Carroll should fly to Atlanta from WASH.

Here is an interesting stat about Atlanta:

I said I think they are overrated (just like they were in 2011, when they also had the #1 seed).

Atlanta had only 2 games this year against teams that ultimately made the playoffs. Only 2! They were both early in the season, winning both of them at home by a TD against Washington and Denver.

In contrast, Seattle has played 6 games (including today) against playoff teams, winning 5 of the 6 games . 4 of the wins were at home, going 1-1 on the road.

Atlanta hasn't been tested by a good team since week 5 against Washington (unless you include the sad sack Giants or Saints).

Should be a fun game next week, regardless.

Great points Thunder. Can't forget about the travel aspect. The last 2 East trips were to Buffalo (destroyed them) and prior to that was Miami (lost).

I thought I read that Carroll changed things when going east after the Miami game, going in much earlier in the week. Not sure if that is true.
