another glorious day of college hoops action. without further ado, here are my 47 best plays of the day...
south florida (+14) 2 units. sure, the bulls have lost 11 straight and are 0-9 in conference. but they have been competitive on the road, losing by 6, 3, 5, and 13 to 'cuse, georgetown, seton hall, and cincy. they only lost by 8 at louisville last year when louisville was a much better team.
indiana (-4.5) 3 units. :scared playing iowa at home in conference has been like printing money for me. but they are a different team on the road. plus they have a revenge matchup with michigan state on deck early next week. today it's the hoosiers with revenge on their minds. they were outscored by 20 (TWENTY!!) from the FT line in the first matchup. can't expect that to happen again. indiana's only home losses have come against duke and uconn. the hoosiers need to right the ship after losing 4 of 5. they'll get it done today.
purdue (+6.5) 2 units. purdue is starting to be competitive in conference home games. they should have some confidence in this matchup, as they destroyed the wolverines at home last year by 29 and they only lost at michigan earlier this year by 3. just too many points here.
lsu (+5.5) 3 units. we're starting to see the chinks in florida's armor, and i'm not referring to chinese people. the gators are only 3-3 their last 6. lsu has beaten florida 3 straight times. i fully expect the tigers to take care of business.
charlotte (+6) 2 units. wake has lost 6 straight and they play duke on tuesday. something tells me they... may not be particularly focused on the niners.
baylor (+17.5) 2 units. the bears chased away quin snyder in their last game. is kelvin sampson next?
penn state (+4.5) 3 units. was gonna play it for 2 units, but i see 91% on wisconsin. that's worth an extra unit. wisky has won one road game all year. ONE!! and that was a 2-point win at minnesota. it's tough to trust the nittany lions (although i hear michael robinson and tamba hali are suiting up for the game*), but this is strictly an anti-wisconsin-on-the-road play.
usc/wazzou under (?) 2 units. i haven't seen the total yet, but whatever it is, the under is the play. obviously the ucla/wazzou game thursday will drive this total even lower than it would have been, but i've picked up on a very strong trend of wazzou home games going under in the second game of the weekend.
bowling green (+9.5) 2 units. read spang's thread. ditto.
stanford (+7) 2 units. the cardinal has been playing solid basketball. before a 3-point loss at cal, they had won 5 straight. think they'll keep this one close.
* not exactly a factual statement. in fact, i completely made it up.
