This is my 8th day. I feel a lot stronger, like I'm fighting and winning instead of just hoping I can make it another day. Quitting is more than merely stopping. The right attitude wins every battle with cravings and keeps you on top of this beast.

The cat piss like odor of old stale smoke still permeates my house. Does anyone know how long it will linger?

Tobacco accounts for more suffering and death than homicide, suicide, illegal drugs and AIDS combined.

I AM A NONSMOKER!

As I said in the other thread, I fell off last night when I was with a girl who smoked and go buzzed up. Regretting it now. I haven't craved any AT ALL today, so at least that's a positive. Back on the wagon.

...in Day 2 and off to work and back home...

...went for a 1.2 mile walk, had thoughts of buying a pack of cigs, smoking them tonight and quitting again tomorrow.... that's where the walk comes in...

I left work and stop by the local CVS to pick up a 12-pack...Monday off...I park and start to have evil thoughts of buying again, my last pack. I have many thoughts going through my head....I finally decide I AM NOT BUYING CIGS , go in and purchase my 12-pack :mj06:

Leave the store approach my vehicle and at that point....it was time for a walk because I locked my fuggin' keys in my vehicle right there, front passenger seat, windows closed and all locked up.

Roundtrip, 1.2 miles....I was laughing at myself walking home ...so confused over cigs I locked my keys inside my ride and had to walk home, contact th LL walk back to drive home like I intended to when I left for work this am.

The only thing I've had 'smoked' today was some fish dip....and my ears when I saw those keys sitting there on that front passenger seat

i stoped smoking with you guys but didn't add my name to the "list". you guys are a great support, i haven't smoked the whole time. my problem is that i have politely avoided all of my friends that smoke during this time. also, i haven't been around any alcohol during this time as well. i am nervous that i will start again, if i am around others that smoke or if i have a drink. anyone overcome this obstiacle?

Someone needs to put together a scoreboard that tracks each person and what day they're on. The shame factor is pretty powerful around here.

finemail, I was in the same situation when I quit. First month I only really went out with friends of mine who didn't smoke...once I felt the psyhological addiction was gone I was able to hang out around friends that smoked without getting the urge or feeling deprived. Also, if you haven't bought carr's easy way to quit smoking- do yourself a favor. I believe he discusses this issue in detail.

You are all doing great. Keep it up! Iit's a mind game going through this. If you've had some non smoking days under your belt, you can look at a ciagarette and say, "I can beat this and I don't need it" and you don't. Strange how that one cigarette has so much power and how it changes ones life.

You are non smokers!
